Discipline
Act 17:11 Bible Studies

Prov 3:11-12 (NIV) My son, do not despise the Lord's discipline and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.

Prov 15:5 (NIV) A fool spurns his father's discipline, but whoever heeds correction shows prudence.

When Bad Things Happen

# The Scriptures speak of three major categories of "trouble" for the believer: 1) discipline, judgment, or rebuke from the Lord; 2) tests, trials, and suffering; and 3) temptations or attacks from Satan. So when trouble comes, what type is it? Some kinds of trouble can be avoided and some cannot. Each requires a different response from Scripture! So how can the type of trouble be discerned? Is this God directly moving to correct me, or is this persecution for His Name, or is Satan behind the trouble? This is the first of three studies on the subject.

STUDY 1: Discipline, Judgment, or Rebuke of the Lord

Heb 12:5-8 (NIV) And you have forgotten that word of encouragement that addresses you as sons: "My son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son." Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons.

Heb 12:9-11 (NIV) Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live! Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

# God uses discipline as a last resort. If all God needed to justify mankind to himself was a bigger cattle-prod, then Christ died for nothing! No, God's plan for the earth is love first, discipline last. To get us to listen and repent, he will use deep conviction, the rebuke of friends, coincident sermons, the quickening of Scripture, and every other means before disciplining us. But if we resist God's Spirit of light and mercy, we are promised the rod of correction. When God disciplines, the punishment fits the crime. Time and again, we realize that we cannot get away with unrepentant sin. God is sculpting us into holy vessels, and the process can be painful.

Job 5:17-18 (NIV) "Blessed is the man whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty. For he wounds, but he also binds up; he injures, but his hands also heal."

1 Cor 11:32 (Phi) But when God does judge us, he disciplines us as his own sons, that we may not be involved in the general condemnation of the world.

Prov 20:30 (NIV) Blows and wounds cleanse away evil, and beatings purge the innermost being.

Rev 3:19 (NIV) [Jesus] "Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent."

Rom 11:22 (Jer) Do not forget that God can be severe as well as kind...

Heb 10:31 (NIV) It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Does God Have A "Style" Of Judgment?

Rev 16:7 (NIV) ... "Yes, Lord God Almighty, true and just are your judgments."

Rev 19:1-2 (NIV) ... "Hallelujah!... for true and righteous are his judgments."

Gal 6:7 (Jer) Don't delude yourself into thinking God can be cheated: where a man sows, there he reaps.

Num 32:23 (NIV) ... "Be sure your sin will find you out."

The Story Of Jacob As An Example Of God's Style Of Judgment

Gen 27:6-16 (NIV) Rebekah said to her son Jacob [his name means 'he deceives'], "Look, I overheard your father say to your brother Esau, 'Bring me some game and prepare me some tasty food to eat, so that I may give you my blessing in the presence of the Lord before I die.' Now, my son... Go out to the flock and bring me two choice young goats, so I can prepare tasty food for your father, just the way he likes it..." ... "But my brother Esau is a hairy man, and I'm a man with smooth skin..." "... Just do what I say, go and get them for me." ... Then Rebekah took the best clothes of Esau... and put them on her younger son Jacob. She also covered his hands and the smooth part of his neck with the goatskins.

Deception Using His Brother's Coat And A Dead Goat

Gen 27:19-36 (NIV) Jacob said to his father, "I am Esau your firstborn..." Isaac asked his son, "How did you find it so quickly, my son?" "The Lord your God gave me success," he replied. Jacob went close to his father Isaac, who touched him and said, "The voice is the voice of Jacob, but the hands are the hands of Esau... Are you really my son Esau?" "I am," he replied... After Isaac... had scarcely left his father's presence, his brother Esau came in from hunting... Esau said, "Isn't he rightly named Jacob? He has deceived me these two times: he took my birthright, and now he's taken my blessing!"

Jacob Learns A Lesson In The Rights Of The Firstborn

Gen 29:16-27 (NIV) Now Laban had two daughters, the name of the older was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel. Leah had weak eyes, but Rachel was lovely in form, and beautiful. Jacob was in love with Rachel and said, "I'll work seven years in return for your younger daughter Rachel."... So Jacob served seven years... Laban... gave a feast. But when evening came, he took his daughter Leah and gave her to Jacob, and Jacob lay with her... When morning came, there was Leah! So Jacob said to Laban, "What is this you have done to me? I served you for Rachel, didn't I? Why have you deceived me?" Laban replied, "It is not our custom here to give the younger daughter in marriage before the older one. Finish this daughter's bridal week; then we will give you the younger one also, in return for another seven years work."

Later In Life, Jacob Is Deceived Via Goat/Clothes By His Own Sons

Gen 37:23,28,31-33 (NIV) So when Joseph came to his brothers, they stripped him of his robe... and sold him for twenty shekels of silver to the Ishmaelites... Then they got Joseph's robe, slaughtered a goat and dipped the robe in the blood. They took the ornamented robe back to their father [Jacob] and said, "We found this. Examine it to see whether it is your son's robe." He recognized it and said, "It is my son's robe! Some ferocious animal has devoured him. Joseph has surely been torn to pieces."

1 Cor 10:6 (NIV) Now these things occurred as examples, to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did.

Verbal Rebukes

Lev 19:17 (NIV) "... Rebuke your neighbor frankly so you will not share in his guilt."

Prov 19:25 (NIV) ... rebuke a discerning man, and he will gain knowledge.

# God will often use people to offer a verbal rebuke through prophecy or admonishment before disciplining us. Instead of letting our pride get offended, we should be willing to accept and give such rebukes within the body of Christ so that we can avoid sterner discipline--the rod.

Prov 17:10 (NIV) A rebuke impresses a man of discernment more than a hundred lashes a fool.

Prov 28:23 (NIV) He who rebukes a man will in the end gain more favor than he who has a flattering tongue.

Life Giving Rebuke

Prov 15:31 (NIV) He who listens to a life-giving rebuke will be at home among the wise.

# For a rebuke to be life-giving it must be: 1) correct, and 2) acted on. First, we must admit that not all rebukes we get, or give, are of God. The Spirit will confirm the truth of the rebuke. Secondly, even if the rebuke is correct, it will only serve to condemn us if we do not repent.

Ps 141:5 (NIV) Let a righteous man strike me--it is a kindness; let him rebuke me--it is oil on my head. My head will not refuse it...

Prov 25:12,27:5 (NIV) Like an earring of gold or an ornament of fine gold is a wise man's rebuke to a listening ear... Better is open rebuke than hidden love. (1 Tim 5:20)

Luke 17:3 (NIV) [Jesus] ... "If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him."

God's Miracles... Of Rebuke!

Num 11:1 (NIV) Now the people complained about their hardships in the hearing of the Lord, and when he heard them his anger was aroused. Then fire from the Lord burned among them and consumed some of the outskirts of the camp.

Num 26:10 (NIV) The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them, and they served as a warning sign.

Acts 5:5,11 (NIV) When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died... Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events.

As Children, We Get The Punishment Now, Rather Than Later

1 Pet 4:17-19 (Phi) The time has evidently arrived for God's judgment to begin, and it is beginning at his own household. And if it starts with us, what is it going to mean for those who refuse to obey the gospel of God? If even the good man is only just saved, what will be the fate of the wicked and the sinner?... Therefore those who suffer according to God's will can safely commit their souls to their faithful Creator, and go on doing all the good they can.

Prov 22:15 (NIV) Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline will drive it far from him.

Ps 23:4 (NIV) ... your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

dear Found in Him, since your Topic was naring the bottom with "no answers", I thought this piece out of it and make it a sidebar generated by your Topic:
quote:
Gen 27:6-16 (NIV) Rebekah said to her son Jacob [his name means 'he deceives']
Regarding the part that I bolded, I'm not so sure that that is the correct meaning of the name Jacob.

Because, wha' happen'd, wuz...

There were twins in the womb of Rebekah, and they were Esau and Jacob. On the day of the birth of the twins, baby Esau came out first and then baby Jacob came out next and baby Jacob grabbed the heal of baby Esau. Here it is:

Genesis 25
25 And the first {baby} came out red all over like a hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.

26 And after that his brother {Jacob} came out and his hand took hold on Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob...

To the Hebrews of those days, and also to the Hebrew parents Isaac and Rebekah, the fact that "Jacob grabbed the heel of Esau" WAS AN UNUSAL, EVEN PROPHETIC EVENT and they tended to MEMORIALIZE this amazing event, that the SECOND baby had grabbed the heel of the FIRST baby, with the name "YA-KOB" "the one who grabbed the heel of the first baby", as in, "what did all THAT foreshadow and mean, LORD??", and it was the custom to MEMORIALIZE such auspicious moments with a name that recalled the event, and so they named this second baby JACOB, "the baby who grabbed the heel of the other baby".

The Hebrew name Ya-akob comes from the root aqab, which means to swell up, and in the human body, aqab was the swollen part known as the human heel, the swollen bone of the foot.

In other words, the name Ya-akob was given to the second baby to memorialize what had just happened, since it was very unusual that one baby would grab the heel of the preceding baby, and so they called him Ya-akob, from the root aqab, or to swell up, which name meant "the one who had just grabbed the heel". That's all it meant. They didn't know what it meant yet...

But a lot of Christians, especially Gentile Christians, tend to think that Yaakob’s name was given to him because "HE was a heel" or "a bad person".

But search as one might, the testimony of the LORD about Ya-akob is that the LORD still called Yaakob a "tam" man later in life.

Yaakob was not a trickster, nor a deceiver; instead, his brother Esau was a trickster and a deceiver.

Malachi 1:2
"I have loved you", says the LORD, "Yet you say, Wherein have You loved us? Was not Esau Jacob's brother? said the LORD; yet I loved Jacob...

And as for Jacob acquiring the birthright of the firstborn from Esau, Jacob went about it legally and asked Esau if he'd sell it for a bowl of good soup that Jacob had made that day, and Esau who was not into cooking soup but loved the dangerous outdoor life of hunting, said to himself, "ah, what do I care about that birthright anyway, I can day any day out here", and Esau just didn't care and sold the birthright of the firstborn to Jacob, who, to his own astonishment, suddenly realized that he, Ya-cob, "the second baby who had grabbed the heel of the first baby", had suddenly come to pass.

So Found in Him, you posted this
quote:
Gen 27:6-16 (NIV) Rebekah said to her son Jacob [his name means 'he deceives']
No, it meant, "the one who had grabbed the heel", which is something entirely different than "he who deceives", isn't it?

...and I think God ended up naming Jacob ISRAEL right??

God said to him, "Your name is Jacob; You shall no longer be called Jacob, But Israel shall be your name." Thus He called him Israel.

Yes, God DOES discipline those He loves!

David had the Lords whip on his soul the rest of his life after he ate another mans lamb.

2Sam.16

[5] And when king David came to Bahurim, behold, thence came out a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera: he came forth, and cursed still as he came.
[7] And thus said Shimei when he cursed, Come out, come out, thou bloody man, and thou man of Belial:
[9] Then said Abishai the son of Zeruiah unto the king, Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? let me go over, I pray thee, and take off his head.
[10] And the king said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah? so let him curse, because the LORD hath said unto him, Curse David. Who shall then say, Wherefore hast thou done so?

Hosea 12:3
He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and by his strength he had power with God.

Genesis 32:28
And he {the angel} said, Your name shall no more be called Jacob, but [/b]Israel[/b]: for as a prince have you power with God and with men, and you have prevailed.

Yes, Ya-akob or "the second baby who had grabbed the heel of the first baby" had PREVAILED INDEED and now the event that his name had MEMORIALIZED WAS MADE A REALITY as God now crowned him ISRAEL, meaning, "as a prince you will now have power with God".

Esau's heart was always worldly and profane, but Jacob's heart was toward God as typified already that "already as a baby, he had realized what glory was attached to the right of the firstborn and his longing expressed itself in a long reach for the heel of his brother Esau, even at that early age.

As predicted, "the one who grabbed the heel" back then "became the prince who had power with God", and "as it should be".

Found in Him says, Yes, God DOES discipline those He loves!

I agree. God tries to get us to do a better job of "hanging on" as He steps on the gas.

I recently read a comment by Cindy Jacob where she said "she had to hurry to keep up with the plans HE had!"

So HOW does God discipline us...exactly?

John 15:2
Every branch in Me that DOES NOT BEAR fruit He takes away: and every branch that DOES BEAR fruit, He purges it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

So what does "purges" mean? What does this DISCIPLINE look like in our actual life when we say say, "Yes, God does discipline His chilren"?

Strong's Corcordance, use for free from www.eliyah.com:

John 15:2 Every 3956 branch 2814 in 1722 me 1698 that 846 beareth 5342 not 3361 fruit 2590 he taketh away 142 : and 2532 every 3956 [branch] that beareth 5342 fruit 2590, he purges 2508 it 846, that 2443 it may bring forth 5342 more 4119 fruit 2590.

purges 2508

2508. kathairo, from 2513; to cleanse, i.e. (specially) to prune; figuratively, to expiate:--purge.

2513. katharos, of uncertain affinity; clean (literally or figuratively):--clean, clear, pure.

Jesus is pure and clean, and when I let Him live IN ME FOR ME, then I will seem to be clean and pure too, though it is Jesus who is doing it in me.

So to repeat:

John 15:2
Every branch in me that does not bear fruit, He takes away: and every branch that does bear fruit, he purges it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

He cleans it. But how does He clean it? Does He clean it by sitting down in the driver's seat, with my permission? Shall we not surely "drive cleanly then" because that's all He knows how to do?

Eden... Do you have children? If so, how do you or did you discipline them? if you don't have any I speak from experience that you discipline no two children the same.

God's mind is to conform you and transform you. He has His own methods for molding, shaping and pruning His own. He is The potter.

He disciplines those He loves. Not any two children are the same.

Okay...but how do you think God disciplines us? I mean, God may not have to discipline you in the same way as me, but what ARE some of the methods which God uses to DISCIPLINE us, in your opinion?

Is His discipline a "lack of rain in a region" or is His discipline "something more personal to me like...", what, for example?

Yes I do love you Eden but I'm gonna be frank with you and call you out here... Regarding the Food for thought post-- if you one more time deny Jesus' deity while He was here on the Earth I won't talk with you.

You feel that I am in your face, is this a bad thing?? Maybe it's not Eden.

But it's one thing that you would "no longer talk to me", Found in Him, but you "practically had me on the stake already, running to get more oil". And that is NOT right.

John 16:2
They shall put you out of the synagogues: yes, the time comes, that whosoever kills you will think that he does God a service.

The only place where we should be running is "to the mercy seat" instead of running to the shed for more oil. This is not Salem, okay.

I have already modified my original idea in my Topic by saying that:

Jesus was the Son of God at all times from birth unto death, except that Jesus NEVER ACTED from His capacity as the Son of God and that Jesus ONLY ACTED out of His capacity as Son of Man or as the second Adam, while Jesus was on earth.

Do you agree with that statement, or not?

Psalm 80:17
Let Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand, upon the son of man whom You made strong for Yourself.

Matthew 13:37
He said to them, He who sows the good seed is the Son of man.

Matthew 13:41
The Son of man shall send forth his angels ...

Matthew 16:13
When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

1 Corinthians 15:45
And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

And Paul also used the terms the first man and the second man:

1 Corinthians 15:47
The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven.

Why wasn't Jesus "the millionth man" by the 1st century A.D.? Because Jesus was only the second man to be like the first Adam, before Adam sinned. And that "second man" the Bible also calls the Son of Man.

To "undo" what the first Adam had done, Jesus had to prove that someone like the first Adam COULD IN FACT STAY SINLESS ALL HIS LIFE, and Jesus as the "second" man or as the "last Adam" (there will be no more Adams needed) showed that it could be done, as the "Son of man".

Philippians 2:7
But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant and was made in the likeness of men.

Matthew 14:33
Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth You are the Son of God.

Mark 1:1
The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

But:

13 “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. 14 He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all peoples, nations and men of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.

The description "Son of Man" was a Messianic title. Jesus is the one who was given dominion and glory and a kingdom. When Jesus used this phrase related to Himself, He was assigning the “Son of Man” prophecy to Himself. The Jews of that era would have been intimately familiar with the phrase and to whom it referred. He was proclaiming Himself as the Messiah.

He is The Messiah-- He is The Son of God-- He is and was and forever is-- God.

Jesus was not equal with the Father while on Earth, Found in Him , you need to reconsider your statement.....for us as humans to have any hope of being like Jesus in this body of flesh, we have to understand Jesus became like us in every way while He was on Earth, that disciples might understand the Power of the holy Spirit is what enables us to do the things He did and live the victrous life He lived and dsires for us.....

A. Jesus Christ emptied Himself of the following:

1. Equality with God the Father (Philippians 2:6,7; John 14:28; 1 Corinthians 11:3).

2. God-form or God body, the spirit body that He lived in from eternity, to take human-form (Philippians 2:6-8, 3:21; Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 1:35; John 1:14; Luke 24: 37-40; Zechariah 13:6 Galatians 4:4; Romans 8:3).

3. Immortality of body (1 Corinthians 15:3; Psalms 16:10; 1 Peter 2:24, 3:18).

4. The glory that He had with the Father before the world (John 12:23, 17:5; Matthew 16:27; Philippians 2:5-11).

5. His authority in Heaven and in Earth, which was given back to Him after the resurrection (Matthew 28:18; Philippians 2:9-11; Ephesians 1:20-23; 1 Peter 3:22)

6. His divine attributes and outward powers that He had with the Father from eternity (John 2:11, 3:34; Isaiah 11:1,2, 42:1-7; 61:1,2; Luke 3:21,22; 4:16-21; Matthew 12:28, Acts 10:38).

B. The Holy Spirit ministered through Jesus while He was on Earth

Jesus had no power to do miracles while on Earth until He received the Holy Spirit in all fullness (John 2:11, 3:34; Isaiah 11:1,2, 42:1-7; 61:1,2, Luke 3:21,22, 4:16-21, Matthew 12:28, Acts 10:38).

1. He was limited to the status of a man (Philippians 2:6-8, Hebrews 2:14-18, 5:8-9).

2. He was God’s agent using God’s power of attorney (Acts 10:38)

a. The Son can do nothing of Himself (John 5:17,19, 8:18)

b. I can of Mine own self do nothing (John 5:30)

c. I seek not Mine own will, but the will of the Father (John 5:30, 6:38).

d. My doctrine is not mine, but His that sent me (John 7:16; 8:26, 38).

e. I do nothing of Myself (John 8:28).

f. I do always those things that please Him (John 8:29).

g. I came from God, neither came I of Myself (John 8:42, 16:28).

h. I seek not Mine own glory (John 8:50, 54).

i. I have not spoken of myself, but the Father gave me commandment what to speak (John 12:49,50, 14:10).

j. My words are not Mine, but the Father does the works (John 10:25,37,38; 14:10,11).

3. He was our example that we should walk in His steps (1Peter 2:21).

4. The temptations prove that He was limited as a man so that He could overcome as a man and not as God (Hebrews 4:14-16, 5:7-9).

5. Isaiah speaks of the Messiah being born without knowledge enough to know to refuse the evil and choose the good (Isaiah 7:14-16).

6. Isaiah speaks of the Messiah being limited as an ordinary baby, showing that God would give him the Spirit of wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and fear of the Lord. He had laid down these attributes as God from all eternity when He became man (Isaiah 11:2, 53:1-12).

7. Isaiah predicted that He would be born without the tongue of the learned, without knowing how to speak a word in season to help any soul, and that He would be wakened day by day to increase in knowledge and wisdom (Isaiah 50:4-11).

8. Isaiah speaks of the Messiah receiving His power to manifest divine acts by the anointing of the Holy Spirit and not by retaining His own former natural attributes and powers as God. If it was necessary to anoint Jesus during His earthly life, then it proves He did not retain His former glory and attributes which He had from all eternity when He emptied Himself to become like men in all things (Isaiah 42: 1-7, 61:1,2; Philippians 2:6-8; Hebrew 2:14-18, 5:8-9).

9. History records that Christ was limited as a baby and grew in body, soul, spirit, grace, wisdom, stature, and favor with God and man. Even after His manhood, His full anointing, and gifts of the Spirit He was still limited in knowledge (1 Corinthians 2:11, Luke 2:40,52). He even learned obedience by the things He suffered (Hebrews 4:14-16, 5:7-9).

10. Jesus did not claim the attributes of God, but only the anointing of the Spirit to do His works (John 8:28; Matthew 12:28; Luke 4:16-21). Others stated that the Holy Spirit was the source of His power (John 3:34; Acts 10:38).

11. The fact that Jesus Christ promised all believers powers to do the works He did proves that it was through the anointing of the Spirit, not by His deity and natural attributes, that He did His works (Matthew 10:1-20, 16:18, 18:18; Luke 10:1-24, 24:49; Mark 16: 15-20; John 14:12-15; Acts 1:4-8).

becausehelives...What are you doing? I WILL NOT "reconsider" my statement...neither will you steal HIS glory!

Jhn 8:24
"Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins."

He humbled Himself-- He DID NOT EMPTY Himself of WHO HE WAS!!!!

Go learn WHO He is.

.....for us as humans to have any hope of being like Jesus in this body of flesh, we have to understand Jesus became like us in every way while He was on Earth,
Jesus humbled Himself in a flesh body and OVERCAME EVERY temptation of sin.

YOU or I will NEVER do that!!! There is ONE Jesus friend!

quote:

A. Jesus Christ emptied Himself of the following:

1. Equality with God the Father (Philippians 2:6,7; John 14:28; 1 Corinthians 11:3).

READ THE FOLLOWING:

Phl 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth;
And [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

I could go on for THREE days and prove you wrong on everything you have listed up above-- But I'm not gonna waste my time if you can't believe that HE WAS WHO He said He was.

Limiting Him is no less than denying Him.

Close your eyes in prayer and ask The Father just what HE has to say about that!

Romans 1:4 and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, BY the Resurrection from the dead.

Okay, it seems to me this verse is saying, i believe, that though Yeshua has eternally been the Son of God(John 1:1-3 17:5, 24), in His new role as God-Man He was clearly Declared to be the Son of God BY His Resurrection or after His resurrection that is.

WHAT DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND ABOUT THAT?

FoundInHim, I am not arguing with you about Yeshua diety. I too believe He was/Is the Son of God before He came to earth, I believe He was/Is the Son of God while on earth, and I believe He continues to be The Son of God forever.

I was just pointing out my interpretation of the verse in Romans 1:4 which is that Yeshua was DECLARED to be the Son of God BY HIS RESURRECTION FROM THE DEAD. Not before He died.

Thats how I interpret that one verse. It does not say that He was declared to be the Son of God before the crucifixon while He walked the earth(although I believe He was).

He is "interpreted" to be GOD from everlasting to everlasting!

"Thus saith The Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer The Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside Me there is no God." (Isaiah 44:6 KJV)

Isaiah 46:9
Remember what I accomplished in antiquity! 1 Truly I am God, I have no peer; 2 I am God, and there is none like me,

FoundInHim, Yes, Yeshua is God from everlasting to everlasting, but who is His Father. Who sent Him?

Whom are we to be Reconciled to? Who loved the world so much that they sent their Son to die for it?

Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm (Yeshua) of the Lord(Yah) been revealed?

John 12:44

Then Yeshua cried out and said, "He who believes in Me, believes not in Me, but in HIM(God the Father) who sent Me.

v49 "For I have NOT spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a COMMAND, what I should say and what I should speak.

And I,Yeshua, know that His (Fathers) command is Everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak."
This is what makes God the Father and Yeshua "Echad" hebrew for ONE.

In Genesis 1:26 we read: Then God(SINGULAR) said, "Let Us (plural) make man in our(plural) image.

God creates man as male and female, NOT a solitary individual, but two people, but the two are nevertheless "One"(Gen 2:24)

It is the same with the Godhead. Yeshua left His abode in heaven to do the WILL of the Father, for they are Echad. One!

Anyway, becauseHeLives did a better job explaining this in another post.

After the 1000 year reign with our Lord and King Yeshua here on this earth, Yeshua will hand ALL things back to the Father who as scripture says "God HIMSELF" (Singular) will come down to a new earth from heaven with the New Jerusalem.

Words Reveal Character

33 “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for the tree is known by its fruit. 34 “You brood of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak what is good? For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart. 35 “The good man brings out of his good treasure what is good; and the evil man brings out of his evil treasure what is evil. 36 “But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the day of judgment. 37 “For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

I know the routine, Found in Him...you're better and we're worse. But you sound very Michael Harrison-ish when you do that.

Whatever happened to, "Lord, have mercy ON ME a sinner?"

Instead you are acting like a Pharisee, "Lord, I thank You that I AM NOT LIKE OTHER MEN ARE..." (as in, "I thank You, Lord, that I DO NOT HAVE A BAD A CHARACTER as becauseHElives and as that Eden has...he is the worst ... I tell You, Lord, he DISGUSTS me")

Luke 18:11
The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank You, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

13 But the publican, standing afar off, would not so much as lift up his eyes to heaven, but smote on his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

14 I tell you, THIS MAN went down to his house JUSTIFIED rather than the other...

How sweet it is! You might as well have said straightout to Eden, "YOU disgust me!", instead of "tippy-toeing" around the issue by using the safe "it" instead, as in, "IT disgusts me". [crying] Now I'm an "it"! [crying]

Indeed, most people missed the point why the Word became flesh. He came to reconcile us to the LORD, that is, God the Father in the New Testament. Jesus Himself prayed to the Father. It was the Father who said, "Sat at my right hand until I have made your enemies as a footstoll for your feet." And once this is done, all things shall be given back unto the Father. This is not to take away from the deity of the Word, as He is ever God, but His role as the Lamb (not forgotten as such) will have been completed. And in that day, He shall present us as His own beloved children unto the Father. All which the Christ has done was meant to bring us back to the LORD.

It is further interesting that to God the Father, Jesus is the Prince. God the Father is the King and Jesus is the Prince in heaven, and Jesus will also be the Prince to His Father later on earth when He begins to rule over the nations from Jerusalem.

But as to the kings of the earth, Jesus is King of kings and Lord of lords, but even while Jesus is on earth, Jesus will remain the Prince to His Father, as judged from Ezekiel 40-48.

Ezekiel 45:16
All the people of the land shall give this oblation for the prince in Israel.

Sorry, but it won't be soon. Meanwhile, like Paul said, we may prefer to be with the Lord but while here we need to get over it and do our goodest glorifying Him as long as we can.

Does Mr Nivens and Sweet Pea plan to go with you?

BlueFrog,

I will never get over wanting to be with Jesus. The more I serve Him, the longer I long to see His face. Yes, I agree while we are on earth we need to work for God. That is why Monday and Tuesday ever week we pick up the bread for the area Ministry that feeds the hungry. But if Jesus comes tonight, it will not be too soon.

humbled himself

http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=G5013&t=KJV

to make low, bring low
to level, reduce to a plain

Yahshua was fully God in Heaven with The Father from the beginning....

Yahshua is fully God in Heaven with The Father now...

but while on earth Yahshua was a man.....Yahshua was also God manifest in flesh during His life on Earth (Isaiah 7:14, 9:6,7; Matthew 1:18-25; John 1:1,2, 14:1; 1 Timothy 3:16). That is Jesus has never stopped being God.

but as God/man Yahshua limited Himself to live only as a man.......

Yahshua lived out His life in this body of clay to demonstrate what can be done by a man or woman yielded totally to the Holy Spirit.....

Yahshua's over coming temptations are worthless to the human race if He accomplished them as GOD.....

Hebrews 4:15 For we do not have a High Priest Who is unable to understand and sympathize and have a shared feeling with our weaknesses and infirmities and liability to the assaults of temptation, but One Who has been tempted in every respect as we are, yet without sinning.

The child of Yahweh is saved by the Blood of Yahshua and he Blood alone....

but if the child of Yahweh lives a victorious Christian Life, it is by the Power of the indwelling Holy Spirit....this is the lesson we learn from Yahshua the man....

I deepy apologize for making this statement and have asked God for forgiveness. After searching the Bible for the word "Lamb", I was led to understand that the role of the Son as Lamb shall never cease as He will sit in the Kingdom as the Lamb upon His throne, right next to the throne of God. (Rev 22:3). What I was trying to express is that all things will return back to the Father as was orginally meant in the creation. Again, I apologize.

Dearest Brother Clyde, you have such a sweet spirit. You know, Yeshua Is the Lamb slain from the very beginning, even before creation. He is the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world!

1 Peter 1:20

He (Yeshua) was foreordained before the foundation of the world....

He was and always will be the Lamb of God.

Shalom My Friend

Yahsway, becausehelives, Eden, Clyde & Myself.... Just a reminder, Jesus Christ is MORE than The Lamb. Our focus is to be on The Lord -period. He is The One revealed period. We have NO connection to The Father without bowing before "The LORD" We are nothing without Him and ONLY THROUGH Him can we be ANYTHING. All praise, honor and Glory belong TO HIM and IN HIM dwells all the Fullness of The Godhead!

Jesus said that He must be first in our life-- period...

Do we really love Jesus? The Bible says:

"If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maran-atha." (1 Corinthians 16:22)

"He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me." (Matthew 10:37)

"If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple." (Luke 14:26)

John 5:22–23 (NKJV)

22 For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, 23 that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.

IF we love Him, We honor Him--Period.

No Child of His should ever have to feel that they must defend His Deity! He needs NO defense. THE FATHER has [displayed]....HIM (JESUS)

Hi, Found in Him, I agree with you that Jesus Christ was WAY MORE than the Lamb. The list that you posted before that I downloaded about Him attested to that, and your new list does too. Jesus as the Lamb was one phase of the life of Jesus.

Although I do think that the Bible says in Revelation about the Lamb "keeping His wounds", or not? Do you know where that is, Found in Him?

Thank you! He is my best Friend.

The only scrip I know in Rev regarding scars is:

Rev 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they [also] which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

But:

Jhn 20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and [to] my God, and your God.

Eight days later:

Jhn 20:26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: [then] came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace [be] unto you. Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust [it] into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.

So yes, I think maybe so. I hope so for the simple fact that when we see them, we are reminded of the love that nailed our sins to the cross. They are scars of unspeakable love.

On the other hand, once the Prince of Peace walks around on the earth ruling over the nations beginning from Jerusalem, He does not need to be walking around with those wounds, does He?

I mean, it would be okay with me, and maybe humanity would need the reminder? There is definitely a theme of REMEMBER in the Bible, I think that God knows that man's memory is woefully short.

well, to each his own. I have scars that I am proud of.

sure, but pride goes before the fall if they are YOUR scars in your legs or in your knees or your feet. SCARS are nice...but I would rather "be handsome". But I'm sure that Jesus is VERY HANDSOME even with His Scars. Or are the wounds OPEN??? Stick here your finger???
