No there is nothing one can do to earn, keep or loose salvation, it is a gift and even the act of receiving is a gift for all have sinned and none desire the Lord,, The Lord knows the heart,, is it one that loves the Lord. Do you love Jesus,, this is the question,, one who has saving faith Loves the Lord for it is His Love given to us to enable us to love him,, though I may feel that I do not love his as I ought,, it bothers me,, but yet If it bothers me then that is also an act only God can bring about,,if you are in doubt of someones salvation then by all means pray for them,, God sees all, and If someone were to judge me by my works as to whether I am saved then I would be afraid many would say no.. do I struggle? Yes.Do I give in to sin,, definately,, all I do is at very least tainted with sin, Thank you Jesus that it not up to me for my salvation, else I could boast, and now all the glory to you for saving to eternity such a wretch as I.

Is salvation still a free gift that remains with me even if I do nothing for God after believing for salvation?

What is salvation? It is believing that Jesus died in my place for my sins so that I don't have to die for my sins anymore.

That to mean is salvation. Jesus died in my place so I don't have to die anymore and will live by believing that?

Mark 7:6
He answered and said unto them, Well has Isaiah prophesied of you, hypocrites, as it is written, These people honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me.

It would seem to me that if I REALLY BELIEVED that Jesus suffered and died for me on that cross and rose again on the third day, that then also should produce some fruit of THANKFULNESS to Him for what He has done FOR ME, and INTEREST in Him who has done this.

There a class of Christians who DO NOTHING for the LORD eventhough they call themselves Christian Protestants or Christian Catholics in the USA and in Brazil and elsewhere who DO NOTHING more than say they are Christian.

Are THEY obtaining a good report. Is it possible that they will receive the FREE GIFT of salvation just by....what?

If salvation can be taken away from someone again, is it still a free gift?

Romans 5:16
And not as it was by one who sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.

Is there anything that a person can do to NO LONGER BE ELIGIBLE for that FREE GIFT, and if so, what is that exactly that causes the FREE GIFT to be TAKEN BACK?

Any ideas?

With love,
Eden

Hi, becauseHELives. I liked your group of verses from the Bible that you posted.

You said, for instance:

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for (salvation thru the Blood of Yeshua) the evidence (the fruit produced by the life of the Spirit of Yahweh in the believer) of things (salvation) not seen. For by it (their fruit, action) the elders obtained a good report.

Eden here:

Through faith in the things hoped for, namely in salvation thru Jesus Christ, they obtained a good report.

The knowledge of salvation has to at least result in us obtaining a good report.

A good report obtained from whom, or from Whom? From the LORD God of Israel and from His Son Yeshua-Jesus.

How do we get a good report from our God? By being good sons and daugthers of the LORD God of Israel and good brothers and sisters of the Lord Jesus Christ, by helping to preach the Word and teach the Word and work in other ways in the vineyard of the LORD for the coming kingdom of God LORD, THEN we are pleasing to the LORD and we OBTAIN A GOOD REPORT.

The point is that I do not get a good report from God FOR ANY OF MY BEHAVIOR CHANGES like being good or bad, but we get a good report from God ONLY WHEN WE WORK IN THE VINEYARD OF THE LORD LORD, which means to help preach and teach the Word of God so that the sheep can be brought in, as God allows us to be CO_WORKERS with Him.

THEN We will get a good report from God if we help preach HIs coming kingdom of God, and ALL ELSE WILL BE ADDED TO US anyway, including better behavior.

But, thanks be to God, our behavior CAN improve a little with the help of the Holy Spirit. But, overall, we remain pretty corrupt until the redemption of the body occurs. And God rewards that effort too, I believe.

But the main work God calls us to do is to help preach the kingdom of God in one form or another, either on the Internet, or at least by God seeing that we are actively reading His Word ourselves, all of that is "working in the vinyard of the LORD".

Behavior changes are nice, but in the end they were crucified with Christ on the cross as the old man, so behaviors of the old man will no longer be counted anyway. Only what we now do for God will be counted.

Don't be a slothful servant and speak up!

With Christian love, Eden

Thank you BecauseHelives for the exhortation. I believe that a point that you have made well is that true faith moves us to action. I also agree with you that the word Grace is often misrepresented. I am a firm believer that our obedience to the Lord Jesus is required in order to be called one of His sheep...and that obedience I believe begins in our hearts as we learn the love of God. For the last 13 or so years studying the Word and pursuing Gods will I have come to believe that obedience plays a vital role in Gods plan of salvation for us. It appears the most key elements of our faith require our obedience. For example Repentance is a command for us to turn to the Lord(agreeing that we need to be reconciled), Faith is a command for us to place our trust in Jesus as our savior and Lord, Baptism is a command for us to place trust in Gods power to cleanse us from our sin by the blood of the atonement(remission of sin). If we do these things we are obeying the Lords conditions of being a disciple of His. Without obedience it would be impossible to glorify our Lord. Yes, once again I agree and I would say that not only is true faith a faith that takes action its a faith that earnestly seeks to obey the gospel. Nice to meet you. I am fairly new to this site and I have noticed that there are lots of regulars here who seem to have a love for the Lord and I would be happy to become part of this family.

Romans 8:16: “The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.”

Psalms 111:10 The fear of the LORD [is] the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do [his commandments]: his praise endureth for ever.

Psalms 147:11 The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.

Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD [is] the beginning of knowledge: [but] fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD [is] the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy [is] understanding.

Proverbs 15:33 The fear of the LORD [is] the instruction of wisdom; and before honour [is] humility.

Job 28:28 And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that [is] wisdom; and to depart from evil [is] understanding.

1Peter 5:5 …be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

With this in our thoughts let us consider what is this precious thing people call salvation?

Knowing that salvation is not of works less any man should boast as the Apostle Paul declares in … Ephesians 2:8-10 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

What then can we say then salvation is or is not?

Salvation is not in our ability, to be good enough or work hard enough to be accepted by Yahweh, but in the desire of the converted heart of a true believer to walk humbly before a HOLY, PURE, ALL RIGHTOUS, ALL LOVING GOD AND FATHER, who takes pleasure in them that reverently fear HIM, in those that hope in HIS MERCY.

A very often quoted scripture is … Hebrews 11:1-2 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report.

Please allow me to rephrase that verse and pray you hear Yahweh speak to you…

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for (salvation thru the Blood of Yeshua) the evidence (the fruit produced by the life of the Spirit of Yahweh in the believer) of things (salvation) not seen. For by it (their fruit, action) the elders obtained a good report.

When Yeshua separates the sheep and the goats, He said it will be on the basis of what they did and did not do … Matthew 25:32-46 (The heart will tell, not idol words of confessing Jesus is Lord.

Faith is the demonstration that one really believes.

Faith moved Noah with fear to the building of an ark,

Faith put Abraham on a journey looking for a city whose builder and maker was Yahweh,

Faith put Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fiery furnace,

Faith moved the woman with the issue of blood to the hem of Yeshua’s garment,

Faith moved Daniel to pray when he knew it would put him in the lions den,

Faith gave a little boy the faith to face a giant with a sling and a stone,

Faith as week as it was caused peter to step out of the boat,

Faith caused a father of a child to cried out with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. (Yahweh is looking for action to His Words)

By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. (“pleased God” tells me Enoch feared God and hoped in Yahweh’s mercy so much Yahweh just took Enoch home with Him).

By faith the Apostle Paul endured beatings, imprisonments, and untold sufferings for the Gospel.

By faith all the Apostles that were in that upper room except John suffered martyrdom.

By faith Wycliffe, Tyndale, Luther, Huss stood for truth in awakening the Church from the dark ages.

By faith George Muller cared for a total of over 100,000 orphans in his life never asking for any help except in prayer to Yahweh.

By faith others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: And others had trial of [cruel] mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and [in] mountains, and [in] dens and caves of the earth.

Faith is action; don’t let anyone lie to you…

Salvation is by “Grace” but what a misused word in our day…

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:

“Grace” through faith, mixed with faith, equals salvation …

Read Ephesians 2:8 this way…

For by “Grace” the gift of Yahweh (a new heart Ezekiel 11:19-20) are you saved through faith) (your corresponding actions to the gift) For without corresponding action (faith) salvation has never really been received.

Read John 3:16 like this…

Yahweh so loved the world He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever would by their life show the love of Yahweh to others would have eternal life. (This is what believing with the heart and confessing with the mouth means).

No where in the scriptures will you find an example of faith without corresponding action to the promises of Yahweh, Search the scriptures; Yeshua said for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. John 5:39

Even the thief on the cross beside Yeshua was a display of faith in action, he did all he could do, to display evidence of trust/faith in Yeshua, But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. (there is that reverent fear of Yahweh that the Lord is pleased with that is displayed in every true child of Yahweh.)

Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. (the scriptures they searched were the Old Testament scriptures, the New Testament wasn’t written yet…

Think about it?

Eternity is at stake, the apostasy the Apostle Paul said would pave the way for the antichrist before Yeshua’s second coming is taking place!
