Mrs. Betty,
How did you like that church you visited? How about your hubby?
I'm struggling at my church right now and although I went back, I am thinking about giving up completely. A friend has invited me to his church and I've been thinking about going. I just feel like I would be abandoning all my friends if I go somewhere else.
Anyway, give us an update on your church search!
Love ya!
Joanna.

I pray that you are receiving mighty divine guidance in finding a church home to meet the needs of you and your husband, Betty.

Mrs. Betty, I sure wish you lived by me!! You could come to my church! But even if you didn't like mine, I pass 14 churches on the way to work every morning (15 miles) and that's just along the back roads!!! (and includes the church that is built on our property!!)

We have at least 6 AOG churchs in town and 12 penticostal churchs as well as at least 100 other churchs of various Baptist faiths!! Then we have all the Catholic, Methodist, etc on top of all those!! But really Shreveport isn't that big of a city! LOL!!!

Good luck with the Bible Study tonight, I really hope and pray that your husband enjoys it as much as you do!

Love ya!
Joanna.

Betty -

I will pray for you and your family in this matter, because it is so important and often not easy to find a place that is right for you.

I just recently found the most amazing church, where the pastor brings the Word alive in ways I have never experienced at any other church. I absolutely love it and am growing so much, but might have to move away again soon and don't want to go. Anyway, I guess my point in my ramblings is that I have found that the right place can make a revolutionary difference in your spiritual life.

Here are a few links so you can see their Statement of Faith and such. This can help you determine if their beliefs coincide with yours. [Smile] BTW, I have the MP3s of a COMPLETE bible study by Chuck Smith. It goes verse by verse and has commentary. It is absolutely awesome. I'll try and grab a few links for online listening as well...

THE PHILOSOPHY OF MINISTRY

Concise Commentary On The Whole Bible

Here is my pastor (link below). I like Ed a lot, he is very laid back and a great communicator. I will put a link so you can listen to some of his sermons (bible studies) if you like. I just really like the way Calvalry works. Verse by verse, line by line.

Main Page

The bible study link won't come up (is same as main link) but just click on Bible Studies and you can choose a book to listen to.

Under resources you can read some free books by Chuck. [Smile]

Ok, I found the Chuck Smith link to MP3s. I HIGHLY recommend listening to a few. I am in the book of Genesis currently and I listen while in my car (bought an adaptor for MP3s). [Smile]

Anyway, have fun and God bless. BTW, what I did to listen to MP3s in my car was I bought a Walkman that plays MP3s, then get a tape adaptor to listen to them (it plugs into the walkman and the adaptor goes into the tape slot in your car and lets you listen to MP3s). It's a great way to learn while stuck in traffic!

*NOTE* If you become addicted to his teachings (like I did), I suggest you get the whole set. I got mine for $30, and I'm not sure how long the entire set is but, I have been listening for weeks now (hours and hours) and I'm only in Exodus.

Not a problem Betty. [Smile]

I prayed (and will again) that God will lead you to a place of worship that you can call home. I know what it's like to be unhappy in a church. I think my grandfather was hurt when I made my decision to go to a different church but I had no choice. [crying] I love my family VERY much, I am extremely blessed, but I just wasn't comfortable going to a church that didn't stick with the Word. Most of the mainstream churches are headed down a wrong path (IMHO). Some may call me a "hater" but to allow homosexuality, gay marriage, and abortion, and even promote it in some cases, well that's just wrong. We are to love everyone as Jesus does us, but we can't be mislead. The bible is VERY clear on these issues and I won't be a part of a church that doesn't stand firm on the Word of God.

At any rate, good luck and God bless Betty. I'm glad to help, you have been a help to me as well. [Cross]

Oh ok hehe, well here is the Washington link. Just FYI, the reason I started going to this church was because of the bible study. After I got saved I was starving for the Word and they provided it there. Their philosophy is to go line by line, verse by verse. I heard the pastor on the radio a few times and got hooked. You might check in your area, Calvalry churches have a lot of pastors on the radio. Good luck and God bless. [Smile]

Thanks hon, but we have actually relocated to Washignton State. But it is ironic that you mention that CHurch, because the preacher at the Assembly of God this morning, told me that if the study he does is not what hubby likes for us to check out Calvary Church in our area. I thought it was nice of the Preacher to put our needs ahead of gettting more people. We will check out the bible study tomorrow night and Sunday service Sunday and if it is not what he likes we will check out Calvary.

Hi Betty! [Smile]

I found a home that might work for you in your area. They are called Calvary Chapels and they are all around the country. They are non-denominational and each pastor is the head of the church. That way, the pastor is soley responsible for the success or failure of the church. I like that because there isn't any politics involved. I also like the fact that they stick to the Word of God.

I used to go to Methodist/Presbyterian churches but the politics are starting to deteriorate the foundation. Things are slipping in the back door such as homosexuality, gay marriage and abortion. This was difficult for me since my entire family is in the Methodist or Presbyterian religions (pastors and such). But, I feel that it is most important to find a church that teaches the Word of God to a tee.

Here is a link to find a church in your area if you are interested. I hope you can find one, I don't want you to be unhappy. [Frown] Good luck and God bless.

Here is the link to Texas. I hope one is near you. Btw, if you find a couple near you, try both. The style of the pastor makes a difference. I really like my pastor. [Smile]

I can't seem to find a Church where hubby is happy. The Baptist Church where we were going was so big, we got lost in the crowd. The Bible study there was very hard to understand. We have been going to an Assembly of God but the Pastor has major famiy issues. I know that is not his fault but his bible study is not very good. So we found a another Assembly of God right up the road from us. We are going to a Bible study they have tomorrow night at a person house. Please pray that if it is God's will we go to that Church that hubby will feel accepted.
I am not able to drive anymore and if he quits Church, I can't go.
thanks so much
betty
