Reality doesn't always give you the ability to make easy choices.

If you're an adoption agency and you have children who require placing, would it be better to leave them where they are until you find a suitable christian couple (IF you find a suitable christian couple) or do you place them with a non-christian couple who will be able to give them a far better life than they have either in a children's home or moving from foster family to foster family?

We should not put children in homes with homosexuals. The more we try to make homosexuality normal, the more we are trying to make sin lily white.

Yes, but is putting a child with an married male and female couple who are atheists better, worse or the same?
Currently the adoption agencies don't discriminate between christians and non-christians, but do discriminate between homosexual and heterosexual

Okay, just to start as some of you (Caretaker, I'm think of you for starters) think I'm almost the anti-christ incarnate, this isn't about whether homosexuality is right or not.

There is a lot in the media in the UK at the moment about the application of a new anti-discrimination law to affect adoption agencies run by the Catholic church. Presently they won't place children with homosexual couples but the new law says that they will have to, so unless they get an exemption in the law they will voluntarily close down.

(see http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/6297107.stm)

For those of you unable to look past the Catholic connection, just think about those adoption agencies run by Christians with beliefs that you approve of. It would seem at face value to be black and white (as homosexuality is a sin) but wait a minute.

At the moment they are placing children with non-christian and possibly atheist people - what is the different with placing children with gay couples? Could this service be compared with others provided by christians (soup kitchens etc) - when helping people they don't ask first whether the person is a christian. They help first, and then use it as a potential tool to talk about Christianity.

The main benefitciary is the child, and living within a stable household is better than living in a children's home or constantly moving between foster parents. Is it a good opportunity when they come in contact with an adoption agency run by Christians?

Over to you for your thoughts...
