Thank you all for the welcome, and prayers.
It does feel better to "talk" about problems, rather than dwell on them. I am trying to get back to God, and I know that your support and encouragement will help.

Thanks so much!

Hi everyone I,m new here to the computor also. Thanks for all the encouraging things I've been reading to jacob44. Christ died to free us from the things of this world, and that is what addiction is. I belong to a group called the overcomers, it's a biblically based program that deals with the struggles, and the overcoming of addictions.I'm not sure if it's ok to give you the website, but God is working through this program at our church, and our community. God bless all of you and strengthen you with his spirit.I will lift you up in my prayers also.

:clap2:To Christ who has overcome the world for us!

Guys that sounds all too familiar. Now there are a few things that you should think about when you feel this way or the devil is tempting you.

1. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and not your own understanding. Acknowledge him in all your ways and he shall direct your path....Just trust him and he will take care of you.

2. When you are feeling down or depressed just remember that Jesus gave his life on Calvary for you and everybody else so that we could be forgiven for our sins...That always cheers me up to know that he loved me that much.

3. When the devil is knocking at our door...Send Jesus to answer it...Pray when faced with temptation and God will take the temptation away.

God Bless
Chaffin

The first thing to make sure is your Salvation, which can come only through complete belief on and trust in Christ, and His sacrifice on the cross at Calvary.

When you do this, Christ comes in to dwell in your life. He alone can filled that God-shaped void that was there before you were Born again--accepted Jesus, and Him alone, for Redemption from sin.

The Lord has promised the following through His blessed Word:

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” (Phillipians 4: 13)

This doesn’t mean an addiction will, in every case, leave immediately upon one’s salvation --although sometimes it does.

What this scriptural promise does mean is that, as you grow in your “New Life” as a member of God’s Family, Jesus promises He will help you and strengthen you, if you submit totally to His transformingwork in your life. Further, He promises that you can “do all things” (within His Holy Will, of course), through Him.

We can be absolutely certain of this promise, because it is further promised that Christ will finish what he starts. He is the author of our salvation. He is the finisher of our salvation.

“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform [it] until the day of Jesus Christ…” (Phillipians 1: 6)

Turn your addiction(s) over to Christ. He is Faithful to His promises!

Praying for both of you!

Welcome to the BBS! [Kiss]

Man …can I relate! I am 25 years old in the Lord and have been struggling with addictions my whole life as well. I have a great life, wife, job etc, and still find myself having to battle the same things over and over. But over the years I have found to just keep walking. I joined a men’s bible study at my church one night a week, and that really helps. I don’t generally share all my addiction problems with them, but I do see how most all Christian men have one “burden” or another. It simply means you are still on satan’s radar.

Just remember, that if you are still struggling with sin, you are still a Christian. Because if you weren’t a Christian, you wouldn’t be struggling with it!

Hope this helps!

I will pray for you daily.

Jim

Hello, I'm new here. I just thought I would feel better if I talked with someone. For the sake of expediency, I will just say that I have struggled my entire life with some form of addiction or another. Starting in high school with alcohol. On and off with other things. I have a wife, a good job, and many things that I should be thankful for, because I know that many other folks have it much worse than I. I used to be able to pull myself out of a hole by praying. I felt closer to God, and was able to stay off of the things that were bad for me, but now I am just so depressed, that it is hard to pray, or feel anything but angry and alone. I can't even bring myself to talk to anyone about it. I was saved when I was nine years old, but I guess I didn't really know what it meant. I should revisit this, but I feel like I don't have any strength. Please pray for me.

Thanks.
