Dear Texas Grandma,

I don't think anyone has said here that the Rapture isn't going to occur, or that the Marriage Supper of the Lamb won't occur.

We have many differences on the timing of the these events.

Look in Revelation and see the verse that commences with God's wrath (Rev.6:16,17) This statement is with the 6th seal. So God's wrath time occurs after the 6th seal, which is the great earthquake and changes in the stars and moon.

Paul writes about tribulations, and we are not promised to be exempt from tribulation, if we were, why did Jesus warn about persecution so often?

One could say that the things contained in seals 1-4 have already occurred and have been occuring throughout history. Wars, famines, death, conquerers, etc. The 4 Horseman are called the riders of the Apocalyse, but the Bible doesn't refer to them as such.

John on Patmos had visions of prophecy and these seals are prophecy of the church age. IMO.

The trumpets are called "judgements" and the vials are called "wrath of God", but the seals are not refered to by John as judgements or wrath events.

I agree Whitesands. If you look at my post above yours ask yourself who was actully TAKEN and who was Left Behind?

In the Noah flood, it was the wicked that were Taken.

In the parables of the Harvest, it is the wicked that are Taken.

My point is The left Behind series is an oxymoron. Do we really want to be taken or left behind?

The birds of prey will eat those bodies(flesh) that are taken. This was my point. I do not believe in a "secret" rapture. I do believe in a "rapture" just not how the pre-tribbers teach it.
Shalom

I've noticed that there are many types and foreshadows used as proof for a pre trib rapture however it conflicts with scripture that tells us specifically the frame of time (not the day or hour) of when it would occur...

In Matthew 24 Jesus tells His disciples about His coming and about the events that will occur before He returns and Jesus says in Matthew 24:33 "33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors."

Did Jesus say when you see the 1 week covenant about to be made that it will be near or at the very doors ?

No

Did He say when you see some of these things ?

No

Jesus tells us when ye shall see all these things that His return will be at the very doors.

The problem with pre trib docterine is that those that teach the pre trib view even have the length of the great tribulation wrong..Scripture clearly says that it begins at the abomination of desolation....

Pre trib docterine relys mostly on types and foreshadows that teachers of this docterine interpret as being directly correlated to the rapture...However, they run into a very big problem...Their interpretations of types and foreshadows runs into the sword of truth because it contradicts specific scriptures reguarding the coming of the Lord Jesus.

The contradictions to scripture disappear when you let scripture determine your belief instead of letting your beliefs twist the meaning of scripture.

Matt 24:39 "and did not know until the flood came and TOOK THEM ALL AWAY? (Took Who Away and Where To?)

40: Then two men will be in the field (speaking of harvest) ONE WILL BE TOOK Away, where to?)

41: Two women at the mill.(speaking of harvest) One TAKEN AWAY (where to?)

Luke 17:20 The pharasees ask Yeshua when the kingdom of God would come?

22: Then Yeshua speaks to his disciples.

34: Two men in bed(this speaks of the threshing floor/harvest) One will be taken (where to?)

35: Two women grinding (harvest) One taken (where to?)

36; Two men in the field (again harvest) One will be taken (where to?)

37: AND THEY (disciples) answered and said to Him, WHERE LORD? (where will they be taken?)

He said to them Wherever the BODY is, there the eagles will be gathered togethere.

Rev. 19: 17 To ALL the birds that fly come and gather together for the supper of the great God, that you may eat the flesh of kings, captains, mighty men, horses, and all the people free and slave, both small and great.

21: the beast and false peophet cast into the lake of fire, and the rest killed by God and the birds of the air were filled with their flesh.

Why I believe we will see the antichrist revealed before the rapture

Though Daniel prophesied on the final seven year period as it pertains to Israel which begins with the confirming of a peace treaty, God's wrathful judgment for the Earth, known as the Great Tribulation, only consists of the last 3 ½ years of this time.
Scripture is consistent in detailing the start of this 'time of trouble' centered around the event called 'the abomination of desolation' which Daniel shows occurs 3 ½ years after the antichrist confirms a peace covenant 'with many' concerning Israel.

Daniel 9:27
"He [the antichrist] will confirm a covenant with many for one 'seven' [year period]. In the middle of the 'seven' he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on a wing of the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him."

Daniel 12:4-7
4But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
5Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on that side of the bank of the river. 6And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders? 7And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half (3½ years) ; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.2 8And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things? 9And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. 10Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand. 11And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days (3½ years). 12Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.

The 'abomination of desolation' is when the antichrist enters the rebuilt Jewish temple and proclaims that he is God. This event will make it clear to all who know the prophecies the true identity of the coming antichrist. It is this event which will reveal the antichrist, not the confirmation of the covenant:

2 Thessalonians 2:3-4
3Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

Our Lord Jesus makes it clear that this 'abomination of desolation' is what triggers the Great Tribulation. And though the final seven year period begins with the confirmation of the covenant, the first half of this final seven year period is not part of the Great Tribulation:

Matthew 24:14-22
14And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. 15When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand) 16Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: 17Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: 18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. 19And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give su-ck in those days! 20But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: 21For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.

Jesus is referring to Daniel's prophecy concerning the 'abomination of desolation' and says that then there shall be great tribulation. Jesus also says here that for the elect's sake those days (of the tribulation) will be shortened. He is referring to the rapture of true believers who will be raptured out of God's wrath. The above verse also lines up with Daniel's prophecy concerning the time of the 'abomination of desolation':

Daniel 12:31-45
31And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate. 32And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits. 33And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days. 34Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries. 35And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed. 36And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done. 37Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all. 38But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things. 39Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain. 40And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over. 41He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon. 42He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape. 43But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps. 44But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many. 45And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.
Daniel 12:1-2
1And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. 2And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

Remember that scripture teaches that the dead in Christ shall rise first, so the resurrection of the dead described here in Daniel during the last days at the 'abomination of desolation' must be just before the rapture of the church:

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
13But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Note that the rapture described here is linked with the voice of the archangel (Michael), which again lines up with Daniel's prophecy in Daniel 12:1-2 concerning the rapture near the time of the 'abomination of desolation'.

What about the doctrine of imminency?
Though the doctrine of imminency of Christ's return is often taught, which states that he could come for his church at any time, that he could have come for his church a thousand and more years ago, and that there is no other prophecy required to be fulfilled before his return, I can find no scriptural support for this view. However, I do find scriptural support for just the opposite. It seems clear to me that the following verse is stating that the rapture could not occur until the man of sin (the antichrist) is revealed. Clearly, the following verse is stating that something must happen before we can be gathered to the Lord at the rapture. So how can there be a doctine of imminency when the scriptures teach that something has to happen before the rapture can occur?

2 Thessalonians 2:1-6
1Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
5Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

Many who teach of the Lord's immanent return, like to point out that Jesus will come like a thief in the night. Indeed, Jesus will come like a thief, but to the unbeliever, not the believer! Though it is true that no one can know the day or the hour of the Lord's return for his church, we are to know when we are in the final days just before his return.

1 Thessalonians 5:1-10
1But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 2For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. 4But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. 5Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. 7For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. 8But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. 9For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, 10Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

The scripture stating that God has not appointed us to wrath does not refer to tribulation on earth; it refers to eternal damnation in Hell. It is simply stating that no matter what happens to us Christians in our earthly bodies, our eternal salvation is certain through our faith in Jesus Christ. Did not our Lord's own apostles die as martyrs? It is simply wrong to suggest that today's believers could not go through persecution in the last days. In fact, there are martyred saints even today that are dying for their faith in Jesus Christ.

I believe the following verses show that true believers will be spared the temptation of the false miracles of the antichrist and of being tempted to take his mark. However, I believe that many will suffer persecution for their refusal to take the mark before the rapture occurs:

Revelation 3:10
10Because thou hast kept the word of my patience , I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation , which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

Revelation 14:6-7
6And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, 7Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come : and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

Revelation 14:9-13
9And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, 10The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: 11And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. 12Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
13And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.

Concerning the book of the Revelation it is important to understand that I believe the seal, trumpet, and vial judgments are not separate, chronological events but are each simultaneously occurring events (1st seal=1st trumpet=1st vial, etc.) and that these are all judgments that occur during the Great Tribulation. Therefore, these all occur during the final 3 ½ years, after the 'abomination of desolation'. I will will give an example using the seventh seal, the seventh trumpet, and seventh vial to show that these are the same events occurring at the same time. I encourage you to compare the other seal, trumpet, and vial judgments so that you can see for yourself that they are all corresponding events.

Revelation 8:1-5 (The Seventh Seal)
1And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour. 2And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets. 3And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. 4And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand. 5And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.

Revelation 11:15-19 (The seventh trumpet)
15And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. 16And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God, 17Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned. 18And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth. 19And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.

Revelation 16:17 (The Seventh Vial)
17And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done. 18And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great.

Now lets look at the consistencies in scripture about the rapture occurring at the sound of the last trumpet:

1 Corinthians 15:51-52
51Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

Revelation 10:7
7But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.

Revelation 11:15-18

Because of the consistency of scripture centered around the 'abomination of desolation' and the last trumpet, it is apparent to me that Christians will not be raptured before the antichrist enters the rebuilt Jewish temple and proclaims himself God. However, it is "at this time" when "there will be a great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now-and never to be equaled again." Therefore, I believe that the true believers in Jesus Christ will be raptured after the 'abomination of desolation' and just before the 7th trumpet, but before the final battle for Israel- the battle of Armageddon.

Prior to this, many of us will warn others that we are in the last days and will save many, though we may pay with our lives. Yet, regardless of what happens to our physical bodies, our salvation is assured if we know Jesus as God, and King of kings and Lord of lords!

Matthew 16:24-25
24Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 25For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

1 Thessalonians 5:9-10
9For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, 10Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

2 Peter 3:9-10
9The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 10But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Daniel 11:31-35

Even so, Come Lord Jesus!

May God Bless You All,
Tracy

Danny,
While it is true that even Paul thought he was living in the last days, one day Jesus will come back. The Bible says that and I believe it. One day those who sat on the fence will be shocked when their loved ones and friends disappear. I have no doubt that there will be those who are surprised that indeed they were living in the last days. I say live like Jesus could come today. What is there to lose? If you are always ready for that day to come, you will not be taken unprepared. As the Bible says if you are prepared for a thief in the night you will not be caught off guard.
Yes, people have been saying since I was a kid, but if you study events around the world, things are taking place that show we are in the last days.
I pray that God's return is very soon.
God bless you, Betty

I heard something recently that really hit me.The person said that there won't be any room for any gray areas for hypocracy or secrecy during the tribulation. Either you are a follower of Christ or you aren't. It will be black or white - no other choice.

So for those who think they can follow their own theologies and doctrines to suit their own needs are in for a big surprise if they end up in the tribulation.

We don't know when the end will come...
We don't know how the end will come...
Your command from God is to be ready.

Christians through out the generations always seem to think they will live to see the end. Since Christ we have been living in the "Last Days"... why spend too much time and energy predicting how or when? It could be another 10, 100, 1000, 10000, or more years. We see signs in the news and in the world and we think "This must be what was being referred to in the Bible"... but speculation, guessing, opinions are all it is. Read some Hal Linsday books from the 70's and you'll hear some excellent and convincing arguments that Christ was to return in the 1980's. End Times eschatology is such a small part (and I would argue a very minor part) of being a Christian.

Where in the bible is the rapture referred to as the "rapture?" The idea of the rapture is based upon pulling verses out of various places and piecing it together. In my opinion, that's some shaky ground to base a confident opinion on.

Live as if the end will be tomorrow... but also live as if the church still has thousands of years to go.

If you notice, in my siggy. I give a plug to Favor Minded. Like him, I believe that the tribulation will begin shortly after the rapture.
I went to a meeting the other day, that tried to dispute the rapture saying that all would go through the tribulation. While it is true that all generations have had their troubles, the triublation is a horse of a different color. During this time, God will pour out his wrath on the whole world. The last time, God did that, Noah was put in a boat for protection. Back then Noah and his family were the only ones right with God. Now there are Christians over the entire earth. I believe God will take His children home to be with Him before the tribulation. Of course I lost faith in the people holding that meeting, when Saturday, they made it clear that their Church were the only ones going to Heaven.

Favorminded,

Amen and your site about the Rapture is tremendous! God bless you always!

I urge all of you who have not yet done so to go to Favorminded's internet address that he posted and go on his site about the Rapture. It will answer any questions and it's all backed up by scriptures.

In Christ's love,

Yes, there are many scriptures that abound regarding trials and testings during the tribultion. There are going to be many converted during the tribulation, so the Bible is referring to those newly converted believers.

I personally believe that the church is going to be "whisked away" just before the tribulation, in order to be prepared as the bride to come back with Jesus in his Second Coming to reign for a thousand years.

Rev. 19: 7 let us be glad and rejoice and honor him. For the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb and his bride has prepared herself.

This happens in heaven because verse 5 says
"And from the throne came a voice that said ----"

I just posted a new thread in the Bible Topics section (first section) here. It's called "Preparing for End-Times." It's an excellent article and it might help.

Shalom in Messiah!

I had always heard and believed that the rapture would happen before the tribulation. But here latley I have have been reading listening and studying and am not so sure now. I was just wondering what your thoughts were on this and what scripture(s) defined these thoughts for you.
