You have to understand that most of us here have a "world-view" that has Jesus at the center of it. We judge things based on what His Written Word tells us and He says that to murder is a sin. Therefore we're passionate at defending His decrees and the majority of us feel that we must try to defeat any leglislation that would make legal what God has said is against HIS commandments.
I must add that the process of Partial-Birth Abortion is Barbaric. To allow a child to grow, pull it feet first (leaving the head inside the 'mother') and then killing it (painfully) before full birth is just Barbaric.
On Abortion and Stem-Cell Research: I don't often agree with Mel Gibson, but he said something profound in an interview not long ago. The interviwer asked him if the group of cells in a petri dish were human. Gibson said something to the effect: "I was once a group of cells, but not in a petri dish. You were once a group of cells. Show me a person who was not once a group of cells and I'll buy you a cigar."  Go Mel!

Depends on one's point of view I'd say.
I do not belive in the use of abortion.
But I respect other people's choice in that decision.
Because God gave us free will to make such choices.

I understand that Soft but I'm tired of people trying to justify partial birth abortion. It is murder. It is disgusting. And it is sin. Pure and simple. And he may not be saved, and I will pray for him, but I don't like being attacked on something that is so blatently and morally wrong. The only 'little minds' are the ones being sucked out by murderers who think it's ok to kill a baby while being delivered. And if you think partial birth abortion is ok, then you need to pray and go back to Scripture...

Yes, my wife and I, as well as our 18 year old went out and voted this morning. I estimated that most of the line would be reduced by 9 a.m. and I was right. We got right in after about a 5 minute wait. ![[clap2]](graemlins/clap2.gif)
On the way back my son wanted some particulars for breakfast so we went to the grocery store. Having to use the tiolet I found a Kerry sticker inside the tiolet stool itself. I guess that those Kerry people want your vote very badly. ![[Razz]](tongue.gif)

Ok, but I think that we look at science to save us from our problems too often. Yes, once science finds a better way THEN we should start outlawing abortions... but you're not going to make this a better country now if you try to pass legislation that is only going to split the country even more.

Niedziejkore - women will not have to go back to the coat hangers if abortion is made illegal. In our day we have drugs that do the job and in the privacy of ones own home. I think in the long run, science will provide the solution with the morning after pill. They will only have to answer to God on what they do; and no longer to us.
Statistics on abortion will certainly go way down and the religious establishment will have to look for other things to complain about.

Sitting on Kerry's war record and calling that a qualification to lead this country is a joke (IMHO). He served only 4 months and a lot of his medals are very questionable. Not to mention that he threw them away! (or whatever it was he threw away that were supposed to be symbolic of his medals). Then he came back here and told LIES about his fellow soldiers - Lies FED to him by Hanoi (who's representatives he met with several times in France). Right, that's who I want leading our country - a Communist/Socialist puppet!
At least GW Did his service in the National Guard (Try telling our young men and women who are serving in Iraq from the NG that they are not serving their country). Heck, Clinton was an out and out Draft Dodger - but at that time the story from the Left was that these things didn't matter.
Kerry is FOR Abortion and Gay Marriage... How could a Believer possibly vote for that????
He wants to cater to France and Germany and bow down to the UN. Two countries we could well do without! Yes we ARE Friends of Israel, and if we want to continue to recieve God's blessing, we'd better not (edited from now - oops) allow countries like that to dictate to us what our policies will be. Anti-Semitism is RAMPANT in the UN. If it wasn't for our Veto, Israel would have had a whole lot more problems then she has now! And we're gonna trust Kerry (who had to take a poll to find out what he should say about the Bin Laden tape) to defend Isreal (and ourselves) against the UN???
It's too bad Kerry's 20 year record wasn't checked more closely. If it had been then maybe the country would see that he's unable to make concrete decisions (and even missed the majority of votes on the various committees he was on). This is Not Leadership.

And godly christians back in the late 1700's buried their bibles when they heard an "Atheist" named Thomas Jefferson was elected president in fear that their bibles would be outlawed.
Last time I checked, it's okay to own a bible. Our religion isn't going to be taken away from us because we have the constitution in place... sure, homosexual marriage isn't everyone's cup of tea, but would it really infringe on our right to worship if they were allowed to marry? And if abortion is made illegal, women are going to have to find other ways to abort their babies... wether it's a wire hanger or worse. I'd rather if a woman chose to abort a fetus, she have the procedure done by a professional with sterilized instruments. Abortion, like a lot of things, is a hard thing to outlaw. The country is really split on these issues... i'd say half the population is either in support of it, or against it. Right now is not the time for any government to be passing laws on issues that would so split the country as it does today. Things aren't as simple as you think.

But sadly you’re the type of person that would be willing to believe the best “War time president” is a man that has never seen nor served in a war, as opposed to a man who has not only seen active duty in a war, has received 3 purple hearts, Bronze Star, and Silver Star.
Sorry Ripp, as I have said before in another topic you have only my pity, I cannot even be mad at you.
What ever your reasons, or motivations, are not my concerns, vote for you who you want to vote for.

In the last 2000 election, only about 15 million out of 60 million evangelicals even bothered to vote (Agapepress news, today as stated by Franklin Graham). So if the election is won by someone that does not share the traditional values of the church, then can we blame only ourselves?
It is sort of scary as the next president will most likely have the opportunity to nominate at least 3 new supreme court justices. And if they are liberal activist judges, the church will certainly suffer a major defeat. For one thing we can expect the homosexual movement to get the blessing of civil rights and we will be forced to accommodate many of their demands. Other liberal cause will certainly be advanced.
The salt will be drained from the church bit by bit and will become more ineffective in influencing our culture. ![[BooHoo]](graemlins/boohoo.gif)

I know there are some who feel that to vote means to make one's self of the world and not of the Kingdom of God. I'd like to encourage you to look at this from another perspective...
God has allowed us to live in a country where we have the freedom and the right to choose our leaders (through our votes) and as His representatives on this earth should we not exercise this right to promote His values through our choices?
There are a lot of issues in this years election that are very important (not just the men running, but what they stand for - or against).
Gay Marriage - Gay rights
Abortion and Partial Birth Abortion
The right to send our children to Christian Schools that teach the Gospel without the interference of the World Core Cirriculum (shiver)
There are Congregssional Seats and Senate Seats that are up for grabs. Let's make sure we fill these seats with people who will stand on the Right side of these important issues.
I forget where in Scripture this is found, but at some point that which "restrains" will be removed... some have said this is the Holy Spirit that will be removed when the Saints are Raptured. Well then, if we're the Saints and we're what's 'restraining' (through the Holy Spirit) then let us RESTRAIN by exercising our right to Vote!
