The first line of this quote really jumps out at me! [eek]
Bush certainly will be accountable to God, but his true role in all of this is very much worth watching.

Iraq is settling into a model that should surprise no one. Despite the best efforts by the U.S. to give the Iraqi people freedom to choose their own form of government, with the genuine hope they would choose a more westernized form of democracy, the Islamic clerics and the dark, soul-destroying religion of Islam is in the process of having their way as the cry “America leave!” is more and more heard.

Signs with “America no! – Israel no! – Islam Yes!” are more and more seen as the mobs return to their ancient body beating and crawling toward Karbala, the Iraqi city of religious significance that roughly equates to the Saudi city of Mecca. The honeymoon between America the liberators, and Iraq the Saddam-tortured, now-liberated Iraq seems over, if it ever really began.

There are those among Iraqi would-be leaders who want a strictly political (non-religious) government, to be sure. But they are observably in the minority. The best hope, American officials who are dealing with the situation seem to be telling us, is that, eventually, a synthesis that includes secular and Islamic rule will be developed out of the chaos that is almost always the outcome of war when a regime is replaced.

All of these things involving trying to get the new Iraq off on a sound footing are important. The real issue, however, will not long be suppressed. The real issue is right there in the center of all the struggle to find a new government for Iraq.

The real issue is Israel, the Palestinians, and the absolute necessity to formulate peace between the two. More to the point, the one great issue, so far as the international community is concerned, is to achieve a settlement between Israel and its ancient enemies whose religion is the Jew-hating Islam, so that nuclear Armageddon won’t be triggered over the Temple Mount in Jerusalem at some point.

As I’ve written before, the Temple Mount, where the Holy of holies and the Ark of the Covenant once sat, is the objective of Israel’s true enemy, who is also the enemy of all mankind.

The Scripture says it best: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places]” (Ephesians 6:12).

Satan, of course, is the principal aggressor wanting to control, to own, this, the most important spot on earth in God’s holy eyes. Lucifer, the fallen one, and his minions are the “principalities, powers, the rulers of the darkness of this world, and the spiritual wickedness in high places” of Ephesians 6:12. However, just as God uses his flesh and blood children on Planet Earth to carry out much of His mission-agenda, Satan uses mankind to carry out his hate-filled purposes. Can there be much doubt that the Jews, and Israel, are among the things that Satan hates most? The chosen people of God (the Jews) and the nation Israel have been the most persecuted people and nation in the history of the world!

So now the attention of the international community leadership has its collective thoughts turned again toward the Jewish state, Israel. It is a fascinating thing to behold, but not a surprising one. Bible prophecy, in Zechariah, chapter 12, and in other Scriptures, long ago foretold the precise conditions that we see developing in the region.

The United States continues to be a strong defender of Israel. President George W. Bush is a staunch friend of the Israeli state, and recognizes that its Arab neighbors have as their goal the determination to remove all Jews from what they consider their land. But the President faces serious opposition and influences. He needs the prayers of Christians everywhere. He is in a crucial position at the most critical time in history from a biblically prophetic standpoint.

Bill Koenig, a columnist who analyzes news in light of Bible prophecy, makes important observations. He writes:

President Bush and the Road Map
· President George W. Bush is in the center of the Middle East talks and remains the most influential figure as the President of the United States. In this role, Bush has a very complex situation to manage: he has to contend with the Defense Department (pro-Israel), the State Department (pro-Arab), the Jewish voters (pro-Israel), Congress (pro-Israel), the EU (pro-Arab), UN (pro-Arab) and the Arab League (pro-Arab). He also hears from the Vatican, World Council of Churches and the National Council of Churches, who have all called on Israel to leave part of her covenant land.

· Many of the major Jewish leaders in the United States oppose a Palestinian state and have notified President Bush.

· President Bush is using the military and the financial might of the United States to improve the chances for an eventual peace agreement…

· 75 U.S. Senators and 250 Congressman so far have signed legislation calling for President Bush to require the Palestinians to reign in terror before the peace talks continue with Israel…

· President Bush has committed himself to "land for peace," but to this point hasn't applied pressure on Israel. This, from my vantage point, explains why there haven't been major same-day or within-24-hour "earth shaking" events at the time of his February 26 and March 14 statements pertaining to the covenant land…

· The CIA has been given the role as a peace monitor.

· There are influential, hard-line Jewish "hawks" in key positions at the Defense Department (Richard Perle, Paul Wolfowitz, Douglas Feith) and with the National Security Council (Eliot Abrams) promoting democracy in the Middle East. These men are advocates of an aggressive war on terror in the Middle East.

· Israel is looking to the United States as their savior. Many Israelis believe we are the key to lasting peace and security; as Christians we know otherwise. · President Bush will ultimately be accountable to the God of Israel. He needs our prayers on this crucial matter. He has a very significant role…

I truly believe that God has used and is using President Bush and this nation in the present Middle East circumstances. Whether America’s leaders can maintain their resolve and deal with the situations there in the way the Lord directs, particularly concerning the matter of the increasing howl from the anti-God forces for Israel to give up land for peace, must indeed be a matter for prayer for all Christians.

Pressure from the dark forces that control the people in the stratosphere of the international community hierarchy will increase greatly in the coming weeks and months. Look for those who do Satan’s bidding to rage against Israel for resisting their demand that Israel desist blocking the peace process. Look for these minions of the Prince of the power of the air (Satan) to more and more proclaim that the key to solving the terrorist threat around the world, the anger and frustration of the downtrodden Palestinians, and the problem of nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction in the region, depends on Israel’s giving in to its neighbors’ demands at every turn of the peace process.
