Explosion on bus in Haifa; ambulances en route

An apparent terror explosion ripped apart a bus Wednesday afternoon in Haifa's Carmeliya neighborhood, witnesses said.
"There are very many casualties in this terror attack," said Haifa area fire fighting official Gershon Sauberman.
The Magen David Adom ambulance service said that more than 20 injured persons had been evacuated to hospitals in the area.
"The scenes are horrific here, twisted metal, it is very difficult to look at," the witness told Israel Radio.
Another eyewitness told Channel Two Television that "The center of the bus lifted up into the air, the roof was torn off. It looked like a blast inside the bus, and within seconds people began taking the wounded out of the bus."
The bus was a 129 bus, headed for the city's Horev Center. The explosion took place on the city's main Moriah Boulevard.
The last Palestinian suicide attack was almost two months ago, when 23 people were killed in Tel Aviv's Neve Sha'anan neighborhood.
But security officials had warned in recent days that they faced 50 active warnings of planned and impending attacks.
