The following article is one well worth your time, if one reads between the lines the Prophetic Word of God comes forth as well. I am in the process of writing an article when I came across this one by Ruth Matar, of the Women in Green. It is a real eye opener for anyone still in the dark about the evil of the so-called Palestinians and what they are all about.

Shalom, jerry golden

ISRAEL'S ELECTORAL SYSTEM
Does It Measure Up to What One Would Expect from a Democracy?

The State of Israel is going through dark and turbulent times. And the situation has gotten worse ever since those cursed Oslo Accords were signed on the White House lawn. I remember clearly the early years after the signing of these accords. When we learned that even just one of our innocent Jewish brethren was killed, we would quickly telephone each other and arrange a demonstration. Within hours, thousands of us would be outside Mr. Rabin's residence in Jerusalem, demonstrating against such wanton killings. Now we have become resigned to hearing, on an almost daily basis, that fellow Israelis have been murdered, during Passover Seder with family and friends, during Bar and Bat Mitzvah celebrations, while traveling on buses, in cars going to work, while having a cup of coffee with friends, students eating lunch in their school cafeteria, on vacations abroad, and families in their homes with their little children shot point-blank as they were hiding in their beds.

What has happened to us? Why was the loss of an Israeli life so inconceivable before, and so acceptable now? It is as if we have become resigned that there is no solution to the constant killing of our people.

The New Middle East which the Oslo Architects promised us has arrived with a vengeance.

Over one thousand people have been killed since the 1993 inauguration of the New Middle East, and many thousands more have been maimed for life.

Now comes the real shocking part. Of the more than one thousand Israelis killed since the Oslo Accords were signed, 718 have been killed since the Oslo war started in September of 2000. We have been cursed with 28 months of intense continual terror. Last Sunday alone, in a double suicide attack in Tel Aviv, 22 people were killed, and 113 injured. This terrorist attack was carried out by Arafat's own Fatah people. There is absolutely no difference between Hamas, Islamic Jihad and Arafat's Fatah!

In order to calm us, the Israeli government keeps telling us how many planned Palestinian attacks they have prevented. In the past two months, 1500 Palestinians have been arrested for terror activities. According to Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz some forty to sixty attacks were averted in the past two weeks alone. That, however, is small consolation for the families of the twenty-two victims of Israel's restraint policy who were killed last Sunday!

Without counting what is called "minor incidents" like rock and firebomb throwing, there is an average of more than ten Arab attacks on Israelis every day.

Adding to the uncertainty, we are having a fateful election on January 28. Do I feel upbeat that the situation may change, that there may be a way out of the current morass? Not really!

In this election, we have two major candidates, leaders of the two largest parties. One of these major candidates agrees with the United States that the solution is to give the Arabs another state, this time within the heart of Israel, albeit under certain conditions only.
The other major candidate has declared that he will meet with Arafat, even if terror doesn't stop, and try to negotiate a settlement. This candidate has further declared that even if he cannot get an agreement, he will withdraw from Gaza and most of Judea and Samaria unilaterally, and build a big fence around what is left of the country.

The majority of Israelis rejoiced when they thought that Oslo was dead! How wrong they were!

What is the solution? I am afraid that unless Israel's electoral system is changed, there may be no solution in accordance with the desires of the majority of the Israeli people. Unfortunately, Israel's electoral system is not in line with what one would expect from a democratic country.

Our guests are Rabbi Stewart Weiss, Director of the Jewish Outreach Center of Ra'anana, and Professor Paul Eildelberg, President of the Foundation for Constitutional Democracy.

Yes, Israel is in a very hazardous situation. Let's face it: the survival of Israel as a viable Jewish State is in grave danger!

I came across an article in my records by an American philosopher, Eric Hoffer. He was born in 1902 and died in 1983, after writing nine books and winning the Presidential medal. This article was published in the Los Angeles Times in May of 1968 and is entitled "Israel's Peculiar Position". Please keep in mind that this article was written in 1968!

"The Jews are a peculiar people: things permitted to other nations are forbidden to the Jews.

Other nations drive out thousands, even millions of people and there is no refugee problem. Russia did it, Poland and Czechoslovakia did it. Turkey threw out a million Greeks, and Algeria a million Frenchmen. Indonesia threw out heaven knows how many Chinese--and no one says a word about refugees. But in the case of Israel, the displaced Arabs have become eternal refugees.

Everyone insists that Israel must take back every single Arab. Arnold Toynbee calls the displacement of the Arabs an atrocity greater than any committed by the Nazis.

Other nations, when victorious on the battlefield, dictate peace terms. But when Israel is victorious, it must sue for peace. Everyone expects the Jews to be the only real Christians in this world.

Other nations when they are defeated, survive and recover; but should Israel be defeated, it would be destroyed.

No commitment to the Jews by any government, including our own, is worth the paper it is written on. There is a cry of outrage all over the world when people die in Vietnam, or when two Negroes are executed in Rhodesia. But when Hitler slaughtered Jews, no one remonstrated with him.

The Swedes, who are ready to break off diplomatic relations with America because of what we do in Vietnam, did not let out a peep when Hitler was slaughtering Jews. They sent Hitler choice iron ore, and ball bearings, and serviced his troop trains to Norway.

The Jews are alone in the world. If Israel survives, it will be solely because of Jewish efforts, and Jewish resources. Yet, at this moment Israel is our only reliable and unconditional ally. We can rely more on Israel than Israel can rely on us. And one has only to imagine what would have happened last summer had the Arabs and their Russian backers won the war to realize how vital the survival of Israel is to America and the West in general.

I have a premonition that will not leave me; as it goes with Israel so will it go with all of us. Should Israel perish, the holocaust will be upon us."

In this regard, I was amazed to see photographs in yesterday's Jerusalem Post by Reuter's News Agency of Samer-al-Nouri and Baraq Halfa, who killed twenty-two people and wounded 113 in Tel Aviv on Sunday. This is a handout publicity photo from Fatah's al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade which claimed responsibility for the attack. Amazingly, one of the suicide bombers, Samer-al-Nouri, had himself photographed against a World Trade Center Backdrop. According to a New York friend, this photograph appeared as well in the New York Post. So why does a terrorist deliberately pose himself in front of a backdrop of New York City and the World Trade Center? Draw your own conclusions!

In the clairvoyant words of Eric Hoffer in 1968: "I have a premonition that will not leave me; as it goes with Israel, so will it go with all of us. Should Israel perish, the holocaust will be upon us."
