Pro-Homosexual, Pro-Abortion Bills Sitting on Governor's Desk

By Allie Martin and Bob Ditmer
August 22, 2002

(AgapePress) - A Christian activist in California is encouraging other believers to contact the office of Governor Gray Davis and urge him to veto a bill that many believe would destroy foster care in that state.

Assembly Bill 2651 would place trans-sexuality, bi-sexuality, and homosexuality into the state foster care system. Randy Thomasson, executive director of the Campaign for California Families, says the legislation -- which has made it through the State House and Senate and now sits on the governor's desk -- would indoctrinate foster children to consider experimenting with trans-sexual, bi-sexual, and homosexual sex. He explains how that could happen.

Randy Thomasson
"A teenage boy in foster care could declare himself 'trans-sexual' [and] the foster parents would have to gulp hard and support that 'drag queen' lifestyle," he says. "They'd have to be 'positively sensitive.' This means letting the boy wear girls' clothes -- under their own roof."

Further, Thomasson contends the bill, should Governor Davis sign it into law, would give foster children the right to display and force deviant sexual lifestyles on their foster parents.

"If the foster parents said something like 'Johnny, you are a boy, you're not a girl.' -- this bill actually allows this confused teenager to feel 'emotionally abused' and report these good foster parents to the state for committing a 'civil rights violation.' This is outrageous, it's crazy," he says.

Thomasson also fears AB 2651 would result in fewer foster parents in the Golden State. The pro-family leader believes Governor Davis will sign the bill -- unless he hears from concerned Christians nationwide.

'Leading the Nation'?
Still in California, the State Assembly is expected to pass a bill that will protect abortion rights -- even if the U.S. Supreme Court overturns its own 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, which made abortion legal in America.

Abortion groups feel Roe v. Wade may be overturned if a conservative president gets to change the make-up of the U.S. Supreme Court. With S.B. 1301, pro-abortion activists in the Golden State hope to avert any affect that might have on what they describe as a woman's "right" to an abortion.

A spokesman with the California-based Life Priority Network tells Family News In Focus that S.B. 1301 is "irresponsible" and amounts to "abortion at any cost." He also says people in the state are aware of the legislation, saying it would legitimize "back-alley abortions in a front alley."

The bill was passed earlier this week by the Assembly on a party-line vote, with the exception of two Republican who voted for the bill. California Governor Gray Davis has stated he would sign the bill if it passes. Life Priority Network is encouraging pro-life advocates to contact Davis' office and request that he veto the bill.
