I used to wear an earring over 12 years ago . The hole is still there. So is the tattoo on my arm . So if you are reading this pondering getting a tattoo or body peircing of some type , just remember it ain't temporary , it's for keeps . But praise the Lord , so is Salvation through the Blood of Jesus .So why not leave the shedding of blood to the Lord , and keep your blood in your veins as long God allows ? No , a decision about a trivial thing like a tattoo or ear/nose/tongue(ewwww!)ring , will not get you into OR keep you out of Heaven , BUT a Decision to Repent of your sins and accept Christ as your Lord and Savoir , is the ONLY DECISION that will get you there .

In the Old Testament tatoos were a sign of ownership. To get a tatoo was to say that you belonged to something other than God. That's why tattoos are forbidden. But by that, you might also say that wearing a t-shirt with a logo or something on it is the same thing.

I would say IMO that I wouldn't do it..I did that when I was not saved and when I was younger, BUT I don't oppose it if it's liek one or 2 and they are small, you know? If it looks ok and isn't too liek hideous, etc. then fine, but if it is for pure attention getting schemes, etc. then it is bad. Not sure where I stand on tatoos. I see ythem as pointless and unnecessary, but as far as tatooing your body, I know the Bible speaks out about it..is that only in the Old Testament though?

It's not your age, Gary. I agree with you and I'm only 19.

I'm with you, Joel. My wedding ring, my watch, and my glasses.
I don't believe it's forbidden for men to wear the earrings, but IMO, it sure looks silly.
Must be my age showing.

I agree, but the question I would pose, why? What is so important about earings, bracelets, rings, necklasses, and other adornments, that men HAVE to wear them in the first place. It's one thing for women to wear these things only by societal standards, But is society that jaded through the centuries, that they feel the need to 'upgrade' their personna with gaudy bits of jewelry, to make them feel better.
Mind you I do not make the judgement that it is wrong, I just pose the question. For myself, I wear a wedding ring, and a watch to tell time, and that's it. All the other stuff just gets in the way.
God Bless

If the adorning of jewlry is allowed for women, then why would it not be allowed for men?
Seems to me the scripture teaches let those amoung us see the adorning of the heart..
Let our works so shine before men.
1TIM 2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; TIT 2:10 Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. 1PET 3:3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; 1PET 3:5 For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:
It does not speciffically state "Thou shalt not wear "earings" etc, but the principal here would be to let those around you to see your "new" heart, and long for God..
We are at liberty, but let us not get carried away into vainity, and cause the gospel to suffer. amen?
Just my synopsis on the scripture.
very good question wparr..
