US votes sanctions, Syria slams Israel

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad Thursday accused Israel of leading a war against Islam, in remarks following a US House vote that overwhelmingly supported imposing new sanctions against Syria, accusing it of harboring terrorists.
"As we talk about the war being waged today against Islam," Assad said, "we have to keep in mind that there are various powers in this world that have worked systematically on fuelling up this war. In the lead of these powers is Israel, the state of terrorism"
