"I saw a woman going up in flames, as if she were a torch. Her clothes burned first and then her skin," said Eli Shmueli as he described the Jerusalem suicide bomb attack that killed 16 and wounded 100 others.

A parking inspector for the city, Shmueli, 36, was standing by the Clal Building on Jaffa Road late Wednesday afternoon when he heard the explosion. He turned to see a bus full of burning people.

Shmueli ran towards them. There was no glass left in the mangled bus. So he was able to reach inside to try and help douse the flames on people's skins, slightly hurting his own hands in the process.

"It was a barbecue, people burned like torches," he said. It was worse, he said, than anything he had seen at Yad Vashem.

Tovah Lazaroff, The Jerusalem Post, June 12,2003

When I hear that even in Ramallah, where Yasser Arafat still holds onto his power, Hitler's 'Mein Kampf' is freely distributed - as it is in many other Arab capitals - Tovah Lazaroff's words quoted above take on an even more sinister meaning.

For this is the same old battle against the Jewish people that is still being waged by the Evil One, whether through Hitler and the Nazis, Saddam, Khomeini, Arafat, the Hamas or the other Muslim and Arab terrorist groups. This war has nothing to do with land. And because of this, President Bush's vision of splitting the land between the two warring factions - the Israelis and Palestinian Arabs - will solve nothing. The ceded "Palestine" will simply become a tool in the hands of the Muslim Arabs with which they will do away for good with the Jewish nation: Israel.

Abdul Nasser did not start the Six Day War to give the Palestinians a state on the West Bank, but to obliterate Israel as a sovereign people. Jews have to be burned by Hitler in gas ovens or "by the will of Allah" - supported by the majority of Muslims in the world - in their own buses and restaurants, or be driven into the sea. It has nothing, nothing to do with territory or even occupied territory. It is the old, devil-driven hatred against a people God called His own, and to whom He alone promised His own land.

If territory was the real crux of the Middle East problem, then the Arabs - especially Egypt and Jordan - could have taken "the West Bank" and Gaza Strip when they held it in their possession from 1948 to 1967 (for almost 20 years), and given it to the Palestinians to set up their independent Palestinian State. But neither Arab state did this, opting for the opposite instead: they prevented the Palestinians from realizing their own aspirations. Instead, they only used the Palestinians to further their real goal, which remains to this day the ultimate Palestinian Muslim, Nazi-like dream, which is to rid the Middle East of the cancerous growth called Israel.

The sooner this reality dawns upon the minds and hearts of those people who still believe that they care for this Jewish nation, the better. Europe today is free, not because of negotiations with the Nazis, but because this evil was conquered by the Allied forces. The Iraqi people are today free to choose and direct their own future because the U.S. led coalition forces conquered the evil Nazi-like regime of Saddam Hussein, not because of failed negotiations with him. Likewise, Israel will not finally win peace through negotiations, but by way of victory. May this finally dawn upon them.

'The occupation of Arab lands' - so touted by the Palestinians and Arabs today as the main reason and excuse for their indescribable terror - was not the result of Israel's aggression. It was the result of a war in self-defense which Israel fought during June 1967 in response to a Nazi-like, Nasser-inspired, desire - backed by four Arab nations - to wipe the Jews off the map of the Middle East, just as Hitler wanted to do from the map of Europe. To now cleverly turn it around as if the continued fight and terror against Israel is because Israel occupies these lands is a devilishly clever manipulation of the real historic facts - a trap only anti-Semites can fall into.

Where are the Israeli men and women of courage and wisdom who can at least be as wise and courageous as President Bush has been in relation to the Iraqi problem - and not allow any person who used to be part of the evil regime of President Hussein to have any part or participation in Iraq's upcoming democratic government. Why can Israel's leaders not say the same to Bush and to the whole world? Equally, no Abu Mazen, Dahlan or any other whose hands are likewise stained by the long association with the murderer and terrorist Yasser Arafat can be trusted to form a new democratically chosen Palestinian leadership, and bring the hope of peace to this so troubled region. As with the Nazis, as with the evil regime of Saddam Hussein, there needs to be a real victory over this evil before peace can have a chance.

When will the bloodshed and suffering inflicted upon the Jewish people be enough to teach their present leaders that you do not negotiate with Nazi-like murderers and terrorists? When will Israel accept that the only way to deal with these violence breeders is to overcome them as the Allied forces overcame Nazi Europe and as President George W. Bush destroyed the evil Saddam regime in Iraq.

May there not need to be too much more bloodshed and disaster in Israel - or in the United States - before this lesson becomes absolutely clear. When it is learned, and only when it is learned, will democracy and peace have a chance.

May G-d bring it to pass.
