06/17/2005: A New Way of Life
Sacrifices and rituals to appease her gods were a way of life for Mala. After all, she knew no other way—these were the gods her parents worshipped, and they would be the gods she worshipped.
But when she heard the missionary preaching on the street corner in her village, her world changed. GFA missionary Raju spoke of the love of a Savior—a God who cared for her and had already provided for atonement for sin. Growing up in her village in India, Mala had never heard that such a God existed. She thought she had to “earn” forgiveness by doing endless rituals. This was a breath of fresh air!
Continuing to listen, Mala realized that she could be free from her old ways of thinking and put her trust in Jesus.
“I dedicated myself to witness to the Savior’s love for the lost at any cost,” she shares. “Although I went through several trials for the sake of my faith in Jesus Christ, I was firm in my determination to follow Him until my last breath.”
Now at a GFA Bible college preparing for ministry, Mala’s heart cries out for her village.
“There are only a few Christians there,” she explains. “My sole aim and desire is to see all of my village reached with the everlasting love of Jesus and many churches be established.”
