Am I Hard Boiled Egg or A Stalk of Celery?

Today after Bible Study, I took a hard boiled egg and some celery out of the fridge for lunch. Just for fun I tried to crack the egg in my hand. It would not even crack. It came to me, that the same boiling water that hardens the egg would soften the hard celery. Trials and tribulations in our life is like hard water. When I go through a trial do I become more obedient and willing to be used by God. Or do I become stiff-necked and hard headed? I am almost 63 and I have been through many trials and tribulations through the years. Does God look at me and shake His head and wonder why I have not come as far as spiritually as He intended for me? Does He sometimes want to pop me on the head, to try to get me to understand that trials are often meant to draw me close to Him and instead I run away? I pray that I become more like celery and less like an hard boiled egg.

Luk 21:28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
