1 Timothy 4:6-10

6 If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.
7 But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.
8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
9 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.
10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.
6 We should live these instructions but also share these instructions with others. We should first take the instructions ourselves then share them with others. To be a good servant of Christ is to be doing Christ will and keep His instructions. To come to Christ by faith we would have already accepted sound teaching and doctrine but there are many who because they do not have good teaching think Jesus is someone His is not. The greatest teachings are found in the Bible.
7 There are going to many teachings; there are many tales about Jesus outside the scripture, which is all they are tales. We need to know the truth and it is contained in the scriptures not in views of man or in legends and myths or even in traditions. If we follow after God then we will not fall for these lies because the truth will remain on our heart.
8 Physically staying healthy get one in shape. When someone is running a marathon they prepare their body. We are running a spiritually marathon and we need to prepare for the race that is ahead of us and pace ourselves so we can finish the race strong. Being godly is more important than having good health because good health can easily fade and the rewards would then be gone but the rewards for godliness are forever.
9 There are many saying contained in the word and all are important and need to be accepted.
10 There will come a time when struggles end when pain goes away. We have hope thru Him of coming into glory and being by His side forever. Jesus is Savior whether you receive Him or not it is far better to accept him than to reject Him.
