Since the time of Cain and Abel it seems that man has been in hand to hand combat with one another. Now we are still in combat with the devil and his followers.
The end times have also been suspected just like now. Satan has been working on us for about 6,000 years to hold the people of darkness and impenitence till the Saviour's mediation is ended, and there is no longer a sacrifice for sin, is the object which he seeks to accomplish. But when the attention is called to eternal things, and souls are inquiring, "What must I do to be saved?" he is on the ground, seeking to match his power against the power of Christ and to counteract the influence of the Holy Spirit.

As Satan sees the messanger of God searching the scriptures, he takes not of the subject to be presented to the people. Then he employs all his cunning and schrewdness to control circumstances that the message may not reach those who he is deceiving on that very point.
He sees the Lord's servants burdened because of the spiritual darkness that enshrouds people. He knows well that all whom he can lead to neglect prayer and the searching of the scriptures, will be overcome by attacks.

They will put a false coloring upon the words and acts of those who love and obey the truth. They will represent the most earnest, zealous, self-denying servants of Christ as deceived or deceivers. It is their work to misrepresent the motives of every true and noble deed, to circulate insinuations, and arouse suspicion in the minds of the inexperienced.

Rev 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, "Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ; for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

Many who have no real faith in God or in His Word assent to some principles of truth and pass as Christians, and thus they are enabled to introduce their errors as Scriptural doctrines.
The position that it is of no consequence what men believe is one of Satan's most successful deceptions.

Perhaps the whole Bible should be given to the people just as it reads. It would be better for them not to have Bible instruction at all than to have the teachings of the Scriptures thus grossly misrepresented.

Habakkuk 2:2 And the Lord answered me, and said, "Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that they may run that readeth it.

Psalms 97:11 Light is sown for the righteous, And gladness for the upright in heart.

It is an interesting fact that the words "godly" and "godliness" are not found in Paul's writings until we come to the Pastoral Epistles, the very epistles that have so much to say about evil days and evil surroundings.

In the epistles to Timothy we read about the "perilous times" with which this present dispensation of grace will be brought to a close, while in the letter to Titus we read of "unruly and vain talkers and deceivers," of "liars... evil beasts... lazy gluttons," whom Satan would use to neutralize the work and witness of God's servants.

To Timothy and Titus, these young men of God, the Apostle had much to say about godliness, and we must not forget that Paul's words to them are also God's Word to us, believers in Christ, who indeed appear to be living in the closing days of the dispensation of grace, surrounded by a steadily-rising tide of evil and an ever-growing number of wicked, godless men.

We do not mean to imply that the Apostle does not deal with the various phases of the Christian life in his other epistles, but rather that here in the Pastoral Epistles he wages a sort of campaign for individual godly living in the midst of increasing apostasy and godlessness.

May God help us, in our character and conduct, to exhibit "the power of godliness," the spiritual power that comes from putting Christ first in all things.

That is all.....
