{Romans and Greeks compared the wondorous works of God to a wheel God here and there.}

Before the King James version of scriptures and others there was only Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek.

Some words signify one meaning to us but in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek they sometimes signify something different.

Ezekiel description of his vision was first in Hebrew language, what he saw was incredible and foreign to anything he experienced as a human.
So the difficulty (sometimes) in understanding scripture just by reading it off the top does not give us the full interpretation of the words in scripture; due to the fact of translation of the text from Hebrew to English.

To tell you the full study of this chapter would take a lengthy discussion but nevertheless, I will make it short as I can.

Verse 4, describes the startling sight of a whirlwind with raging fire having great brightness.

Verses 5-15 describes the four cherubims, each having four faces one on each side.
These are powerful spirit beings like fire with lightning flashing from them.
The spirit beings only went to whatever direction the were command (16,17) without turning.

The rings (rims) on the wheels were full of eyes (verse 8).

Ezekiel 10:12
And their whole body and their backs and their hands, and their wings, and the wheels, were full of eyes round about, even the wheels that they four had.

Now Proverbs 15:3 says;
The eyes of the Lord are in every place. Beholding the evil and the good.

(Meaning all events are seen by God, the eyes symbolized how great God's awareness is and direction in things happening.)

Ezekiel 1:12
And they went every one straight forward:
Whither THE SPIRIT was to go, they went and they turned not when they went.

(Each living creature had one face looking forward. The Spirit-The Will-Command and breathing of the Spirit of God both gave and guided their motions

Again, verse 20 and 21 is talking about "The Spirit"

Whithersoever The Spirit was to go, THEY went, thither was their spirit to go; and the wheels where lifted up over against them, for The Spirit of the living creature was in the wheel.

Here it is talking about the Spirit of the living God who never slumber nor sleeps.

There is more to read with this chapter to correspond with it read
Ezekiel 10 and it will give you the identity of what Ezekiel seen in his vision.

"The Spirit" of the Lord (God) was in the wheels.
Awesome chapters.

TheBeautyofHoliness777 had written
quote:
The Wheels signified "Divine Providence" and the Spirit in the wheels is God.
And Eden answered
quote:
How do you know that? Where in the Bible are those wheels defined like that?
And TheBeautyofHoliness777 said to Eden
quote:
Read Ezekiel 1:1-28 and you will get the answer to your question.
Okay, below is Ezekiel 1:3-28.

Ezekiel 1
3 The word of the LORD came expressly unto Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of the LORD was there upon him.

4 And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire.

5 Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man.

6 And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings.

7 And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass.

8 And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings.

9 Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward.

10 As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.

11 Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies.

12 And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went.

13 As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning.

14 And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning.

15 Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces.

16 The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the colour of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.

17 When they went, they went upon their four sides: and they turned not when they went.

18 As for their rings, they were so high that they were dreadful; and their rings were full of eyes round about them four.

19 And when the living creatures went, the wheels went by them: and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.

20 Whithersoever the spirit was to go, they went, thither was their spirit to go; and the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.

21 When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.

22 And the likeness of the firmament upon the heads of the living creature was as the colour of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above.

23 And under the firmament were their wings straight, the one toward the other: every one had two, which covered on this side, and every one had two, which covered on that side, their bodies.

24 And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, the voice of speech, as the noise of an host: when they stood, they let down their wings.

25 And there was a voice from the firmament that was over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings.

26 And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.

27 And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.

28 As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.

So TheBeautyofHoliness777, can you point out to me from the above verses where it says the thing that you wrote:
quote:
The Wheels signified "Divine Providence" and the Spirit in the wheels is God.
Thank you. Eden

This is a fascinating chapter Ezekiel 1:1-28.

The wheels worked in unity they could not go beyond the providence of God; They worked in unity about like the "Trinity" where one will not go against the other.

He was showing Ezekiel that He could and can manifest Himself as He pleases.

Verses 24 and 25 tells how His voice was in the vision that Ezekiel seen.

And when they went, I heard the voice of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, the voice of speech, as the noise of a host: when they stood, they let down their wings.

And there was a voice from the firmament that was over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings.

Revelation 1:15 and Ezekiel 43:2 says, His voice is like the sound or noise of many waters.

The wheel in the middle of a wheel became as it came closer to Ezekiel the wheel in the middle of wheels as stated in verse 21. The living creature was in the wheels.

This was the "Glory of God" being revealed to Ezekiel showing His power and His presence in His Providence.

Very fascinating chapter that shows just a few of the mysteries of the Almighty God.

Ezekiel 1:15-20
Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces.

The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the colour of a beryl: and they four had one likeness; and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.

When they went, they went upon their four sides: and they turned not when they went.

And for their rings, they were so high that they were dreadful; and their wings were full of eyes round about them four.

And when the living creatures went, the wheels went by them; and when the living creatures were lift up from the earth, the wheels were lift up.

Whithersoever the spirit was to go, they went, thither was their spirit to go; and the wheels were lifted up over against them; for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.

The Wheels signified "Divine Providence" and the Spirit in the wheels is God.

Romans and Greeks compared the wondorous works of God in Providence to a wheel God here and there.

Ezekiel saw this vision up in the air which totally amazed him. Sometimes one part of the wheel as at the top, and then at the bottom. Sometimes it was exalted, then it was brought low.

And so it is with our lives of today sometimes we are up with all going so well. Then in the split of a second things change and we are brought low. Life itself is never stable, it is always changing, always turning from one direction to another. But even in our lowiest times the wheel is still revolving and God is working things out for our good. He is getting ready to lift us up. Afflictions brings us low but heaven hears our cry.

In a wheel there is one portion that never turns round it stands stedfast and that is the AXLE. That's why the wheel is compared to God's Providence. The axle is the center of the wheel our lives revolves around the center of the wheel. Our state of mind have a tendency to walk by sight, but we have that axle of God's everlasting love in whom there is no variance of change.

No matter what may go on around us we should not fret for the axle (God) stands forever fixed.

Providence is universal and wherever we are the eyes of God are upon us.
Providence says whatever God ordains must be; but the wisdom of God never ordains anything without a purpose.

It is said, "There were four wheels, four faces, yet one likeness.
