I recently read an article on Lordship-salvation. It has been said that those who hold to the Lordship-salvation belief are accused of turning salvation into a "works" based salvation. The following statements highlight the basis for the Lordship-salvation belief.
--turn from self-righteousness for Jesus to be savior
--turn from self-will/self-rule for Jesus to be Lord
--true repentance is to turn from self, and turn to Christ. This results in conversion.
It appears that the above statements are able to show us the proper response of man to God/Christ without turning salvation into being "works" based.
Pretty soon we are going to be told that both repentance and faith are works, so we don't need to repent or have faith in Jesus......we just sit back and watch what God decides to do.......what nonsense! What then is God being patient for? Jesus spent most of His time adressing the issues of the heart and will of man. Let no man deceive you into thinking that our heart response to God plays no role in our eternal destination.
With love in Christ, Daniel
