Git right with gawd and git yer gun! Is that how it should be? Tell me what you think. Oh yes! Get in a self-righteous fellowship where – noise in the pulpit, motivates you to do something for God. Yew can add to Him by all yer doing and git a crown of glory. All yer gotta do is follow yer own wisdom and do it in yer own strength cuz He cammissions ya!

Well, you might think that this if funny. However, the inquisition is not dead. It will revive again before long. Unfortunately, there are those around us who would delight in leading the way if it were implimented now. These self professed good guys would bring in those ‘heretics’ in chains, out of their heartfelt righteousness. Neither would they see anything wrong with their actions, since, after all, they are doing God a favor. They have scripture to prove it.

The Conquistadores of the Inquisition also thought of themselves in the same way, using scripture to justify their actions for the benefit of your soul even. They dominated, iron fisted. The rule of the Antichrist will again be the same, reviving the inqisition.

So, imagine for a moment your hands uncomfortably tied behind you, pulling you firmly against a rugged splintered post. Hostile smoke is offending your nostrils and burning your eyes as flames beneath your feet grow agonizingly intense with inescapable heat. You groan. Does this seem remote? It wasn’t remote for a lot of people in the Middle Ages. It does happen now, even now, in many parts of the world. Even many Christians are not aware.

The following is an excerpt from Perils of the Victorious Life, by Charles Trumbull. It is talking about discerning between God’s leading in the Christianśn life, andd the devil’s attempt to dominate oneś intent and direction.

quote:
“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but prove the spirits, whether they are of God” (1 John 4:1). And we are never to abandon our God-given common sense in the Victorious Life.
Here is one way of distinguishing between God’s leadings and Satan’s “angel of light” leadings. To the really surrendered Christian, who is trusting Christ for victory, God’s leadings and promptings never nag, or worry, or harass. Satan’s do just this. If one has a seeming “leading” to do something that in itself is good, yet with the impulse there is a sense of nagging disquiet, almost as though a mosquito or a gnat were buzzing about to try to drive us in a certain direction, that is Satan’s earmark, his calling card; and his false “leading” is to be instantly recognized and rejected. The Holy Spirit’s leadings to the surrendered and trusting Christian come with a sense of peace and quiet, even if they point in a really difficult direction which only the grace of God can enable one to follow.

This passage was talking about oneś following the leading of the Spirit. However, concerning anyone approaching you concerning the Kingdom of God, any spirit that thinks that it has the right to choose for you, that is, to imtimidate, to make your decision for you, is not of God. (For example, like the Muslims) God doesn’t dominate you. Of course, it is completely correct to be dominated by God, but He allows you submit to His perfect will. It is His perfect plan.

That is His way, and He will shew it to you. That is why the believer should be able to exhort and convince the gainsayer: not dominate them.

The passion to dominate is perhaps manś
most prolific sin. Just about anyone sees it performed regularly in daily life. In some cases there is an attempt to seduce you, and dominate.
