I have wanted to start a post to ask for your honest opinion about this board since I first became a member. I have never been a member of a community of people in an open discussion before, so I guess I am a newbie-- forgive my inquires if you think they are ignorant.

A discussion forum in the world's standard is a board to openly discus your views and opinions, right? What is a Christian forum?

I am just asking and not accusing... Is this suppose to be a place for fellowship? I thought it would be when I signed up. Fellowship to me it is sharing your heart with a fellow believers, not having to worry about having your words picked apart or mowed down. I'm not talking about a group of sappy believers crying over how their dog's ears are not healed yet. I'm just talking about common respect and valuing a fellow Child of God. To strive to be Christlike demands the fear of God and humility and kindness towards other believers right? We have a lot to deal with when we go out into the world. Shouldn't encouragement and Christs love be found in the company of fellow believers- whether it's a-- forum-- or not?

There seems to be no rules here, I understand it's an open discussion. But as Christians shouldn't it be a little different than what the world offers? I have seen, and I have felt like I was in a boxing ring here at times. I'm not sure why mutual agreement at least for e-mailing a person if you feel they have wronged you vs. blow up on the board wouldn't be a bad idea. I speak to myself first on that.

I'm again not judging on the following-- I know you guys joke about being Bible lawyers. But I think that there is a difference between noble Bereans and a Bible lawyer. I think that it is an awesome thing to search the scriptures together and see how God works through each believer. A court of law is for things of the law in the world, right? We are all students of the word, and the last time I checked, Jesus was the only Shepherd here? In the Christians life, God is the only Judge, Jesus the only lawyer and we are the objects of His mercy. Are all invited to participate in bible study without being interrogated? I am asking.

I only ask you to give me your input. Maybe I have a wrong idea of what a Christian forum is? I don't know! Maybe your input will help all my questions-- I hope.

Open Discussion right? Let's hear it.

Thank you,
Jeannie

Jeannie [wave3] , I have been on this board a long time as you can see by my registration # 87....

sometimes I have had to apologize because I have allowed my zeal to get involved in expressing what I know as truth (like with bluefrog when he first came on the board, I did not take the time I should have to get to understand where he was coming from. After I understood his writing style, I found we had more in common than we had differences ) the same with Michael Harrison, I have some difference with him but over all he is pretty solid.

this board to me is a lot like a church, we are all different and none of us are perfect, we are all pressing toward the mark , the high calling to be totally transformed into the image of Yahshua, to be with Him when our race is completed.

Yahshua said be hot or cold, this will translate into our styles of writing but we do need to be conscious if Yahshua is being glorified in what we say with the written word....a sword used wrongly, instead of killing the spiritual enemies (Satan, fallen angels and demons) can take the lives of little one Yahshua died for.

we need to bear with one another when we don't agree, we need to bear one another's burdens, we need to understand if we are mature saints, at one time we were children and some, maybe many somebodies bared with us gently and kindly until we got out of diapers, out of the play pen, out of the sand box and became an adult in the Lord.

I take this opportunity to say to all, forgive me if I have offended anyone in my zeal, in my love for Truth of the Pure Gospel

love dale

We all come here with baggage. Sometimes, we can allow the outside world to make us read something in to a post is not there. Of course there are other times, that people do say mean things, but we should all try to love each other with the love of Christ. I am not always good at being gracious. I too apologize for the times, that I am rude and quick tempered.
love,
betty

FoundinHim,
You are the sweet one. I appreciate your kind words, but I have many failures. I honestly do not understand people who say they never sin. I have been a Christian since I was 7 and I am 56 and I still sin. I don't live in sin, but I am not perfect. Every day I ask God to forgive me of my sins. I believe sometimes we sin without meaning to. Sometimes it is words said in haste, some times, we do not have the right motives when we do things. There is a difference in living a sinful life and not being perfect. David asked God to search his heart to see if there was anything unclean there. I pray that prayer, too.
Living for Jesus is not trying to be perfect. If we could be perfect, we would not need a Savior. It is living the best way we can with Jesus' help and when we do sin, repent. I do not have a goal of living a perfect life, I have a goal of living a life that is pleasing to God. Remember David was not perfect, but he was a man after God's own heart. David was quick to seek forgiveness when he failed God. That is what I try to do.
FoundinHim, You are such a blessing to me. You encourage me and being a handicapped old woman, this encouragement you give me is so special to me. May God richly bless you for the love you show me.

Hi Betty, Your words are making my face leak [Wink]
We are not perfect are we? But sister, we are so very precious to Him...That is the whole point. I want you to know that I may never have seen you, but I love you!

I feel the same as you about sin, we do fall short, not willingly...but we do. I believe that He wants us to be real with Him when we do, and come to Him.

Folks that say they are without sin should take notes on their thoughts when watching tv some night! When they have EVERY thought brought into submission under Christ then they are just starting to get cleaned up!

Maybe you can agree with me, maybe not, but this is what I find to be the naked truth. The more I walk with the Lord, and the more I spend time in His word and in prayer. The more I see how 'imperfect' I am. We (His children) are precious, SO precious to Him... but Betty, we are nothing compared to The Holiness of our God! It's humbling and needed to keep that in mind. We are accepted and welcomed. That's enough for me. Father God sees us THROUGH the blood of His Son. That is sufficient for Him.

You and I share the same view on David. He is such an awesome example of a Godly man. Granted he sinned-- we all do-- look where he ran when he did! It blesses my heart to read of him. You seem similar to David. I knew I loved ya, now I love you even more! [Big Grin]

God bless you too Betty!
You sure bless me!

FoundInHIm,

You are so right. The closer I get to God the more He lets me know where I need to change. I think He tells us little by little so He does not overwhelm us.
Have a blessed evening.
love,
betty

This thought comes to mind when I think about what you said about you asking God to search you:

God resists the proud-- but gives grace to the humble. You know what Betty? A proud person not only avoids admitting sinfulness, they avoid running to God for forgiveness. A humble person knows their dependency on Him, and knows where to run!

Your words make me think! You have the right humble heart attitude!

Now I am having a good Night! [Smile]
