It is possibly for your computer to store info related to sites you have been to and that info actually be about a site you have never been to. This can happen with popup ads or links that redirect.

Hope that helps.

Hi Salti....
Just on a funny note....don't you hate it when you're in the middle of typing something on the internet....
and suddenly a window pops up that says, "STOP POP-UPS NOW!!" ?????
Is that the biggest oxy-moron you've ever heard of in your life or what?

If you have ever clicked on a site with a banner ad (excluding Arkwebs Banner Ads)you likely have cookies that contain links or information to gambling and porn sites.

That means if you have ever clicked on someones free webiste like an angelfire or geocities hosted web site you likely have cookies that may have info from porn sites or gambling sites.

That information may have come also indirectly from a banner ad that was posted on a site that was posted on a site, that had the banner on the site that you visted.

The word web is just that a web of linked sites and portals.

Additionally, if you or your kids use MSN messenger, or you use Hotmail, the same thing is possible.

I have removed what I considered to be soft porn pictures from my computer and when I followed the trail back to where it go into my computer I found that it came from my kids checking hotmail, or palying a game on yahoo, or even from blind spam mail I received and also from being on ebay.

Another thing. I have DSL. I have been sitting at my computer working with my browser closed and had it open on its own and display shocking popups. Those popups leave cookies.

The only thing that you can do is clean your computer regulalry, install firewalls and get a good paid for pop up/spyware stopper. The free ones will bring you more popups and cookies than youhad to begin with.

If you are really concerned that someone in your house is using your computer for something they shouldnt then get yourself a good spyware program that loggs keystrokes and you can find out for yourself who is going where. Then you can deal with that issue.
