Good Morning,
I am new to this B.B. I was wondering if anyone
has any experience with fasting for spiritual, and health reasons.
I am currently doing a modified fast. Juicing
breakfast, sometimes lunch, and eating dinner.
No snacks at all. No junk food for about 3 weeks now. My intentions are to start a juice fast
very soon.
My motivation is simple. I am extremely overweight and feel that God is calling me to do
some housecleaning in my life. I have had a
compulsive eating disorder since the age of 12.
I have gained and lost, gained and lost, several
times in my life.
I had qualified for a radical surgical procedure,
and was seeking God's will concerning this issue.
Even after He placed several obstacles in my path
I was not sure if it was Him. [Roll Eyes] So I climbed over
the obstacles, and went to another specialists
appointment a week and a half ago. Praise God for His faithfullness. The door was closed.
I know that God wants me healthy both spiritualy
and physically. I have come to the conclusion that it is Him who will help me overcome, and not surgery.
Having said all this, it is not easy for me. I
am looking for support and prayer as I begin on
this journey.
If I have posted in the wrong forum, please forgive me. If this is not the right board for
my concerns could someone please direct me.
Thanks for listening.
God Bless,

Welcome! I was touched by your post, and I am glad to hear God is working in your life. I have read some on what the Bible has to say about fasting, and I think what you are doing seems to go right along with all I've read. I will pray for you.
I have struggled with weight my entire life, and I hope I have your faith someday to try the same things. God leads us if we trust in Him.
Keep in touch and let us know how you do. [thumbsup]

Dear friend; I will pray for you in this matter, It is good that you have come here, for this is a group of very caring people who truly want to help.

I trust you have sought counselling in this matter, especially Christian counselling, and we do have one here on this board. You seem to understand that you have a compulsive disorder, and that is a start, with the right counsellor and much prayer, you can and will overcome.

May God Bless you

Joel

Greetings,
thank you for the reply's.
I am feeling pretty good. Still have
cravings. Twice now I had to fight off
the urge to binge.
I was treated for bulemia a few years ago.
The counsellor was christian.
I did really well for a long time. Then
we moved. That was 3 years ago. Getting
settled, making friends, and finding a good
church has been very challenging. And
so I found myself slipping into old familiar
habits.
I am at an all time heavy with my weight,
and am only just realizing for the first time
that the food is only the surface issue.
I am an on fire believer who Loves the Lord,
and I am very zealous. I really believe that
God is calling me to another place spiritually.
I think He is turning up the heat...off the milk,
and onto the meat so to speak. I understand
all too well what my spiritual giftings are,
but I sense that I am limited in them because
there are area's of my life that need to be
healed once and for all. My weight is preventing
me from having confidence in myself, to go out
and do the Father's business. I am plowing
forward though with renewed strength in this
revelation. Continued prayer would be appreciated. I will certainly keep you posted
with my progress.

God Bless
