My name is Josh and I'm 17 and I just ask that you would pray that I would overcome my habit of swearing constantly and improve my Christian walk each day because I have no idea what God wants me to do and I don't know how to live a good Christian life so yeah I'm kinda lost. Thanx.

Josh, by your own words it is made obvious that God has a calling on your life. That He loves you and is inviting you to join His Church here on earth that you will have eternal life with Him in His heaven. Just attending a church service is not going to make you a Christian you must accept Jesus as your personal Saviour and this will make Him Lord of your life.

This is a critical time in your life as God is communicating to your heart His desire that you will not be lost to the world. THERE IS A LINE DRAWN for you and on one side is Satan and eternal Hell Fire and on the other side is God and eternal joy, peace, and life everlasting. There is no room on the line itself, no gray area, only Life with God on one side or eternal punishment and pain with Satan on the other side. Josh, know that I love you in the Lord and I am laying out the simple plan of redemption that is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I pull no punches I am coming out of the corner with both gloves strapped on ready to punch Satan square in the face knock him to the ground and then put him under my feet.

Josh, please don’t pass up the opportunity Just fall on your knees and cry out to Jesus and invite Him into your heart make Him Lord of your life. Have no doubt that your friends will think that you have lost your mind and will persecute you with words trying to make you feel dumb. Look to no man for your salvation; keep your eyes on Jesus.

Josh, find a church to attend where they believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God. If you have doubts about a church then please post on this BBS and as we have members all over the country someone here will surly be able to help you find the true Body of Christ in your area. Josh, I can’t stress enough how important it is that you find other Christians to hang with. The Word tells us not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together with other Christians. We all need music in our lives there is nothing like praising Jesus through the wonderful God given desire deep in our souls to praise Him with music. Satan uses this aspect of our humanity often to get us into another kind of praise and that is praising Satan. The difference should be obvious Satan’s music will contain references to sin as being joy, all kinds of cusswords, and out-right satanic ritual especially sexual perversion. Satan’s music is an addiction and it can be harder to break this addiction than even the addiction of drugs. This is why you need to fellowship with other Christians one on one.

Lets pray together:
Father, Josh ask that we pray for him that he will stop using cusswords and I ask you Lord to intervene in Josh’s life as it is Josh’s will that he stop swearing. Lord, work a miracle in Josh’s life and surround him with the very Body of Christ that he will be lead to a sanctified life and that Josh’s salvation will be made sure in Christ Jesus. In Jesus Name Amen.

Josh, go to www.trudial.com and look around. You may even want to go the online church and take communion right here on the web. But don’t let Trudial.com become your only contact with other Christians find a local church.

Hey thanks for the advice but you do know that I'm already a Christian I've been a christian for around a year and I've been struggling with swearing and I can't keep the habit off my back. Plus I've never actually been to a church because I don't have enough time to go because i'm always busy with something. PlusGod has never actually spoke to me where I could hear him and I don't know if I'm living the Christian life correctly or not. I read my bible and pray a lot but it doesn't have a huge impact on my life. That's all, I hope u guys have some good advice for me. Thanx.

Hi Josh, I was 50 when I got saved. I had a mouth on me like a gutter rat, BAD BAD BAD. After being saved THE VERY FIRST THING HS worked on me about was cussing. Its been 6 years now,I very seldom ever cuss. , maybe once or twice a year if even that. Thank the good Lord.BUTTTTTTTTTTTT I smoke, I have been praying for this for 6 years . I havent stoped yet. I heard someone say, It took years to form these bad habits and it my take years to get rid of tem. Dont give up no matter what, it took years to form this habit and unless God instantly removes it from you it may take some time.
I would love for God to ( ZAP ) me and take away my bad habit.I used to be a bad gossip, but thats about gone now. I had 50 years to form these bad habits and I guess The dont go away overnight. Keep Prating, this is your best means of overcomming any bad habit----- A sister in Christ, Gail

The way I quit smoking was ;
I knew I wanted to quit but realized I couldn't do it alone. I asked A fellow Christian for advice. She said her husband went thru the same thing and what he did was each time he lit a cigarette he silently thanked Jesus for the day when he would not smoke anymore. So I did this too. And GRADUALLY , little by little, the craving went away. GIANT miracle!!! [hyper] I did not do it - Glory to God - He did it!!! I am SO grateful.
But look, we are all individuals created by God.So HE is the One who knows you best. Maybe this way will work for you to quit whatever you are wanting to quit, maybe not. The truth is all you have to do is trust God and He will make the perfect way for you to do His will. [thumbsup2]
He is SO gentle with us. SO loving and much more patient with us than we are with ourself or each other.
Prayin for ya [wave3]
God Bless ya

Josh,

You need to get into a Church with a good Bible Study. When I hear people say that they don't have time for Church, I know that the truth is you don't make time. I am not picking on you. Alot of people feel the way you do, but you don't hear people say that they dont' eat because they just don't have time. We do make time for what is important to us. You also say you don't know if you are living the right way. That is what Bible study is. I am not saying that you should pick the first Church you go to. But pray about it and visit Churches until you find one you feel is God's will. Good luck, honey.

First, let me lighten that Yoke around your neck a little bit.

The use of a word given the stature of being a “Profane” word, is not a sin, thus, it is a human cultural condition, and not something in the eyes of God that is wrong. Unless your using the Lords Name as a Curse word, then you are sinning.

Now, if your using Gods name in a vain full or profane way, then I suggest you first ask forgiveness, then seek to sin no more about using his name in such a manner, go a use some other colorful colloquialism or sum such.

Now, however, even if you use “Profane” words in a benign way, as more for impact then for content, you must be very careful not to use words to insult or mock, or degrade other people, words that are called “derogatory” should be avoided.

Now, the biggest issue with the use of Profane words, is more so with whom you use them, then the fact that you use them.

I’ll leave this you with this.

Ecclesiastes 7
21 Do not pay attention to every word people say,
or you may hear your servant cursing you-
22 for you know in your heart
that many times you yourself have cursed others.

[B[Matthew 12[/b]
36But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. 37For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned."

Just some things to think about.

Now, I want to ask you, why do you curse?

Why do you feel the need to use words that people have come to believe are profane?

And last Question, do you know the correct definition and use of the “Profane” word you are using?

Tyme.

Josh, it looks like you are an Eminem fan. I never listen to his music, but seems like he has an attitude problem. He even sang about murdering his mother in one of his songs. Also, we was ordered into anger management training.

I would be careful in case there is something in his music which may influence your language. What we feed into our minds, comes out in our actions. Just a thought.

Praying for you.
