Hello all,

In recent months, Matthew has been struggling to hand his life over to God. He has been making slow steps, accepting more and more faith every day, and doing his best to surrender to God. He is a very smart young man who likes to feel that he has a knowledge and measure of control over everything that affects his life, and because he has never been able to understand how a relationship with God works he has come to believe that there need not be a relationship. That has now changed.

Last night Matthew came to some realizations, and he tried to talk to me about them, but when he did he became overwhelmed and just started to cry. He cried so hard, he wanted to talk but I couldn't understand him and he was choking on his words - he has asthma, and I was worried, so I asked him to try not to talk and just breathe, and I just told him over and over that it was going to be okay until he calmed down. Today he wrote me a long e-mail, explaining to me that for the last four years he has put down and treated everything God has represented as nothing but garbage, and that he deserved to be struck down and left alone as an empty shell. But instead God gave him direction and has led him back, and he feels like he doesn't deserve it and is so ashamed. He also said that something wonderful happened to him on the ride home from my house last night, and that he can't wait to tell me but it has to be in person tonight. I feel that God has planted Christ in Matthew's heart, and Matthew is finally ready to accept it and start a relationship with Him. Please pray throughout today that Matthew will continue to feel that closeness and that he will nurture that relationship. And please pray for me that I will be able to answer the questions I know he will have tonight. Thank you so much for all of your prayers for him over the past 6 months! I know that we both feel your love and support!
