Ooooooooooo. You can play this song called "Cry On" by Walter Hawkins. I love this song. It is so beautifully sung.

I like the lyrics, yo!

Artist: Walter Hawkins and the Love Center Choir
Album: Love Alive, Vol. 5: 25th Anniversary Reunion (Disc One)
Song: Cry on

No one knows, all of the hurt you feel,
The heavy load you bear,
And if they did, it seems, they wouldn’t care
Now questions will arise,
While tears fill your eyes,
Still there is a reason,
For every season in our lives

Cry on
The pain you feel inside your heart is understandable
Hold on, yeah
No, it’s not the end
Soon the healing will begin
Just be strong
Even if you have to
Cry on

No one knows, all of the hurt you feel,
The load you bear,
And if they did, they wouldn’t care,
Questions will arise,
While tears fill your eyes,
Still there is a reason,
For every season in, your life

(Cry on)
Through the night you pine away, longing for the break of day (That’s what you do)
(Hold on)
It doesn’t matter what you face
God will wipe your tears away (yes he will)
(Be strong)
Even if you have to (Oh)

(Cry on)
Through the night you pine away, longing for the break of day (That’s what you do, yeah)
(Hold on)
It doesn’t matter what you face
God will wipe your tears away (He promised)
If you just (Be strong)
Even if you have to

Sometimes you got to cry
(Cry on)
But hold on
(Hold on) (Somebody needs to hear this tonight)
You can be strong
(Be strong)
(Oh) (Oh)

Cry on (Cry on)
Even if you hold on
(Hold on)
Yeah, yeah, yeah (Be strong)
(Oh)

Yeah (Cry on)
Oh, hold on
(Hold on)
Trust in God and be strong
(Be strong)
(Oh)

Oh, hold on
(Cry on)
And then hold on to God
(Hold on)
Oh, you can be strong
(Be strong) Yeah
(Even if you)

Your tears (Cry) are precious (Cry) to the Lord
(Hold on) Cry
And then be strong
(Be strong) My sister
(Even if you)

Cry (Cry) Cry (Cry)
All night
(Hold on)
But hold on, you can be strong
(Be strong) Yeah, yeah
(Even if you)

Don’t bottle up your tears (Cry, cry) Cry on
(Hold on)
Oh, but hold on and be strong
(Be strong) Yeah, yeah
(Even if you)

Cry (Cry) Cry on (Cry)
It’s alright to cry
(Hold on) You’ll make it, you can take it
Be strong (Be strong) Oh, yeah
(Oh)

(Be strong)
Be strong in the Lord, and even if you have to
Cry on
It’s really alright
Cry on

God bless you;

I was considering your question and came across this old hymn. The words are interesting especially the last stanza, in relation to a bird taking flight:

http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/s/b/sbygrace.htm

SAVED BY GRACE
Fanny Crosby

Some day the silver cord will break,
And I no more as now shall sing;
But oh, the joy when I shall wake
Within the palace of the King!

Refrain

And I shall see Him face to face,
And tell the story—Saved by grace;
And I shall see Him face to face,
And tell the story—Saved by grace.

Some day my earthly house will fall.
I cannot tell how soon ’twill be;
But this I know—my All in All
Has now a place in Heav’n for me.

Refrain

Some day, when fades the golden sun
Beneath the rosy tinted west,
My blessèd Lord will say, “Well done!”
And I shall enter into rest.

Refrain

Some day: till then I’ll watch and wait,
My lamp all trimmed and burning bright,
That when my Savior opens the gate,
My soul to Him may take its flight.

Refrain

There is a Song, I remember singing before I departed Europe it was called

I WILL SEE YOU IN THE RAPTURE SOME SWEET DAY

I was looking for my book for this song and couldn't find it, however, I found the lyrics in a book title "AMERICA'S 100 BEST LOVED COUNTRY GOSPEL"

another song I have heard at a funeral is:

THE HAVEN OF REST by H.L. Glimour & George D. Moore

1- My soul is said exile, was out on life's sea
So burdened with sin and distressed, Till I
heard a sweet voice,-saying make me your choice-
and I entered the haven of rest.

coro:
I havc anchored my soul in the haven of rest,
I'll sail the wide seas no more; The tempest may sweep o'er wild stormy deep, In Jesus I am safe evermore.

2- I yielded myself to His tender embrace, And faith taking hold of the Word, My fetters fell off, and I anchored my soul, The Haven of the Lord is my rest.

Coro:

3- The song of my soul, since the Lord made me whole, has been the old story so blest Of Jesus, who save whosoever will have A Home in the Haven of Rest

Some Christian people often think of resting in the arms of the Almighty. Being in the Haven Rest. Is gospel term of sleeping in the Lord until the rapture. We shall rise on that day when we shall see him face to face. I often count my blessing, naming them one by one or sit in quite abode on my knees with my face to the rising Son. The blessed assurance because of his amazing grace shall always be my song of praise. THE angels we have heard on high will be rejoicing with me. When I opened my eyes sitting across from The Perfect Rose, made me reminsce about when I heard the bells on Christmas day- that cold day in winter, when I made him my choice.

It was in America the Beautiful, My country t's of Thee- when I heard that old, old story that Jesus Loves Even Me. Now when you and I -when we all get to heaven what a day of rejoicing that will be- when I flash back to the Via Dolorosa en Jersusalem that day. It made me pray like I never prayed before, It seemed it took me more than an Hour, but my wife kindly reminded me- It was my sweet hour prayer- I fell asleep in the Wings of the Almight and I hehold Him as he is.

What A Redeemer, Hey mate!

Rose and Caretaker! Thanks for those songs. It kept me in repose. I remember hearing Cry On by Shirely Ceaser . My wife calls me Christian CD junkie. I love gospel music, I love to sing about pain and beauty, I love being caught in a moment of deja-vous.

David, may you find the songs the Lord has for you!

My best friend's mom died on thanksgiving morning a few years back as we all prepared for Thanksgiving dinner. She was a delightful and spunky woman; everyone who knew her loved her... she was a Nurse in the days when nursing was more about people than reports; she raised 3 girls and a son alone... this was the song that we chose for her funeral..it is how her children felt about her..

Wind Beneath my wings - Bette Milder

Oh, oh, oh, oh -
It must have been cold there in my shadow,
To never have sunlight on your face.
You were content to let me shine, thats your way.
You always walked a step behind.

So I was the one with all the glory,
While you were the one with all the strain.
A beautiful face without a name for so long.
A beautiful smile to hide the pain.

Did you ever know that youre my hero,
And everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle,
For you are the wind beneath my wings.

It might have appeared to go unnoticed,
But Ive got it all here in my heart.
I want you to know I know the truth, of course I know it.
I would be nothing without you.

Did you ever know that youre my hero?
Youre everything I wish I could be.
I could fly higher than an eagle,
For you are the wind beneath my wings.

Did I ever tell you youre my hero?
Youre everything, everything I wish I could be.
Oh, and i, I could fly higher than an eagle,
For you are the wind beneath my wings,
cause you are the wind beneath my wings.

Oh, the wind beneath my wings.
You, you, you, you are the wind beneath my wings.
Fly, fly, fly away. you let me fly so high.
Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings.
Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings.

Fly, fly, fly high against the sky,
So high I almost touch the sky.
Thank you, thank you,
Thank God for you, the wind beneath my wings.

This is a country song and I dont know if it would work as far as the rythym or tempo, but I love the message. I think I might like this at my own funeral if I have one... Out here this song would not be an uncommon one to use for a funeral

"Brad Paisley - When I Get Where I am Going"

When I get where I'm goin'
On the far side of the sky
The first thing that I'm gonna do
Is spread my wings and fly

2nd Verse

I'm gonna land beside a lion
And run my fingers through his mane
Or I might find out what it's like
To ride a drop 'a rain

Chorus

Yeah, when I get where I'm goin'
There'll be only happy tears
I will shed the sins and struggles
I have carried all these years
And I'll leave my heart wide open
I will love and have no fear
Yeah, when I get where I'm goin'
Don't cry for me down here

3rd Verse

I'm gonna walk with my Grandaddy
And he'll match me step for step
And I'll tell him how I've missed him
Every minute since he left
And then I'll hug his neck

(Repeat Chorus)

Bridge

So much pain and so much darkness
In this world we stumble through
All these questions I can't answer
And so much work to do

Tag Chorus

But when I get where I'm goin'
And I see my Maker's face
I'll stand forever in the light
Of His amazing grace
Yeah, when I get where I'm goin'
(Oh when I get where I'm goin')
There'll be only happy tears
(I love you, yeah)
I will love and have no fear
(Yeah, when I get where I'm goin')
Yeah, when I get where I'm goin'

I have been asked to sing Vince Gill"s "Go Rest High on That Mountain" at several funerals, you might consider that one.

Also, by Quinton Mills, "I Found the Lily in My Valley".

Just listened to this one. It is very good!

Go Rest High On That Mountain - Vince Gill

I know your life
On earth was troubled
And only you could know the pain
You werent afraid to face the devil
You were no stranger to the rain

Chorus:
Go rest high on that mountain
Son, you work on earth is done
Go to heaven a shoutin
Love for the father and son

Oh, how we cried the day you left us
We gathered round your grave to grieve
I wish I could see the angels faces
When they hear your sweet voice sing
