In Sunday school this morning we wer talking about THE BABY JESUS. In a book the teacher was reading from it said---when Jewish babies are born they are washed in water and aloe or aloe lotion then rubed down with salt. Then they take long strips of material and wrap each arm and leg then the body. The book said this was the way Mary wrapped Jesus when he was born. Anybody know anything about this and if so what is te salt for ??? Thank you------Gail

Just Passing Through, salt is a purifying agent. Probably the Jewish babies are rubbed with salt as a cleansing ritual.

The Jews use salt as a kosher preservative as well for their foods.
