Just Passing Through,

Here are some excellent resources about Jehovah's Witnesses [their history, distinct beliefs, and ways to refute them] you will want to view, print out and give to your cousin.

http://www.catholic.com/library/Are_They_Awake_on_the_Watchtower.asp

http://www.catholic.com/library/Distinctive_Beliefs_of_Jehovahs.asp

http://www.catholic.com/library/God_of_the_Jehovah_Witnesses.asp

http://www.catholic.com/library/History_of_the_Jehovah_Witnesesses.asp

http://www.catholic.com/library/More_Stumpers_for_Jehovah_Wit.asp

http://www.catholic.com/library/Strategies_of_Jehovah_Witness.asp

http://www.catholic.com/library/Stumpers_for_Jehovah_Witnesse.asp

If you are hesitant towards Catholicism, not to worry, these tracts will not be pushing Catholic doctrine but rather informing all Christians about the Jehovah's Witnesses. We as Christians, Catholic and Protestant alike, share this very same concern because this quasi-Christian sect is leading Christians away from the truth everyday. Often when JW's engage in bible talk it is for the expressed purpose of leading the recipient to the Watch Tower.

I will pray for your cousin, peace and GOD Bless!

I recommend the book "Reasoning through the Scriptures with the Jehovah's Witnesses" by Dr. Ron Rhodes.

Dr. Ron Rhodes is also online at:

Tell her God Loves her.

How she chose to show her Love to God is her Choice.

JW's are a cult and do not worship the Jesus of the Bible, the Word who is God manifest in the flesh.

For a long time, I shared their beliefs. Point out Isaiah 9:6 ("For he shall be called... Eternal Father, Mighty God..."). There is only two possible solutions to that: 1.) Either Jesus is a lesser god (then point out that that is polytheism, belief in two gods, a greater and lesser God, which goes against their ingrained "God is one" overkill) [if this is the case, bring up John 1:1. Either He *IS* God, or he is a lesser god, then remind them Isaiah 43:10 "...Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me." They believe Jesus was a created being. Either Jesus IS God, or is a lesser god created after God.] or 2.) Jesus is God, simple as that.

As to convincing them about hell... go to http://www.livingwaters.com. There's a whole slew of stuff there that will help.

But a word of warning. They (generally) do not believe the Bible is inerrant, and rely upon the Watchtower heavily. They ignore the OT and abandon it as being nothing more than history. And although they are deeply into prophecy (studying the words of those around Jesus and God), they will take the words of Jesus alone instead of the people around Him (ie it doesn't matter if Timothy said to Jesus "My Lord and my God", if Jesus didn't say He was God, then He isn't God). They will also take the words of Jesus above those of God's.

you should be concerned for your cousin, especially if she is not well studied and strong in her faith.

The JW do not believe in the Jesus of Christianity. They believe that Jesus was a created being... the arch angel Michael.

They deny the diety of Christ and thus they deny Christ.

They believe that man is not able to study scripture and rightly divide the word except with the aide of the watchtower society.

They are a very dangerous cult and it is very difficult to break through to one of them because they risk complete excommunication from their friends and family if they speak against the watchtower society.

Their Bible is also a vile translation. Words are inserted where they do not belong (ie "Jehovah" in the NT, "Jesus created all *other* things", etc), they change words to avoid Jesus-worship passages ("He did obescience to Him" instead of "He worshipped Him"), they even completely rewrite passages (instead of "Thy throne, o God, goes on forever and ever", it reads essentially "God is your eternal throne", which doesn't make *ANY* sense, Jesus can't sit on God as a throne! He's not a chair!),
