I realize that some "popular" teachers have taught this over the years, but what evidence do you have for this statement?

In the Bible, Meschech and Tubal are almost always mentioned together, and it does appear that for a long time they inhabited the region sort of east-northeast of the Taurus mountains, and later were pushed somewhat farther north.

However, the notion that Meshech is Moscow is probably no more than its similarity in sound, because the original capital of Russia was Kiev in the Ukraine.

During the centuries, the eurasian hordes came from west China across the grass steppes of central Asia as far as and into Hungary. This continual onslaught from Eurasia tended to push the Slavs of the Ukraine either north of Ukraine and/or into eastern Europe.

Eventually, but not until the 1100s A.D., the site of the village Moscow was chosen in northcentral Russia so that neither the prevailing economic "czars" of St. Petersburg nor of, I think, Novgorod, could exercise undue power. Moscow was, at it were, in neutral territory; but as I said, this did not happen until the 1100s A.D., whereas Meshech and Tubal had been around at least since the 500s B.C. as they are mentioned in Ezekiel together.

Also, the word Gog, and also its compound ma-gog, is most likely an English rendition of the more gutteral word kauk, from which we also get the English word cauc-asian, or the people north of the Caucasus mountains, i.e., the caucasians.

It is in any event interesting that the cauc-asians are the ones with the most lethal weapons these days.

Also, in Revelation 20:8, we see that Gog and Magog are living and coming out of the four quarters of the earth, indicating that by then it apparently comprises the nations of the whole earth:

Revelation 20
8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

Lastly, Magog and Meshech and Tubal were all sons of Japheth:

Genesis 10
2 The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras.

3 And the sons of Gomer; Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah.

It has also been taught by "popular" teachers that Gomer was Germany (this was especially taught when East Germany was still bolshevik/communist/marxist).

But judging from the sons of Gomer, that is probably unlikely. Togarmah was the ancestor of the Ar-minni or Armenians, and Ashkenaz dwelled along the south side of the Black Sea in what is called Pontus in the KJV NT, and now is north Turkey. In this region also lived the "Ashkenazi" Jews of the Diaspora, as well as in east Europe.

I am impressed with your knowledge on genealogy and historical events.

The Holy Bible clearly states the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal as the Invader.

2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, {the chief…: or, prince of the chief}
3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:
4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:
5 Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet: {Libya: or, Phut}

This nation was probably the Tiberini of the Greek historian Herodotus, a people of the Asiatic highland west of the Upper Euphrates, the southern range of the Caucasus, on the east of the Black Sea.

So the bible is clearly indicating that the russian leader is the "chief prince".

There are many more countries involved also, which leads me to the prognosis that this is a UN led invasion.

But clearly, the bible states that the leader is a russian, which the UN has as a military general.

So the ten horns of the beast would be the United Nations.
