The Arabs of east Sudan will eat just about any animal that they can get their hands on, including the wild boar which is actually forbidden to be used as food in the Qu’ran because the wild boar is actually a type of pig.

But these Arabs get around that by saying they received permission to eat wild boar from a very venerable faky (holy man/priest), who had said, “If you have a Qu’ran in your hand, do not eat pig, then you are forbidden to eat pig. But if you have a pig in your hand, then do not hold a Qu’ran in your hand, and then you may eat pig or whatever else God gives into your hand.” [Big Grin]
