Utah Girl Kidnapped From Bedroom, Raped
Suspect In Custody Reportedly Knew Girl's Father

SALT LAKE CITY -- Another little girl has been taken from her bedroom in Utah.

But unlike the case of 14-year-old Elizabeth Smart, the latest victim was found soon after the kidnapping. Police near Salt Lake City say a man took the 11-year-old girl from her room, and then raped and beat her in her home's back yard.

Neighbors called police after hearing noises in the yard. Officers arrived to find a man beating the girl with a blunt object.

The suspect is being questioned. Police say the man knows the girl's father. The little girl is hospitalized in critical condition.

Police say they don't know of any connection with the Elizabeth Smart kidnapping. The 14-year-old was taken from her bedroom in June and hasn't been found.
