A 38-year-old Sacramento man is to be arraigned today on six felony sex counts, including the molestation of a 12-year-old girl and the rape of a tied and bound 14-month-old girl, investigators said Wednesday.

Bruce Evan Roberts was arrested after his fiancée reported she found photographs of Roberts engaged in sexual acts with underage children, said Sacramento County Sheriff's Department spokesman Sgt. James Lewis.

Investigators said they found the photographs on Roberts' computer and a "variety of other evidence" in his home in the 6800 block of Peck Drive. Roberts periodically watched the 14-month-old for a longtime friend, Lewis said. The 12-year-old was the daughter of his fiancée, Lewis added.

Only two victims are reported in the complaint filed in Sacramento Superior Court, but investigators said they are interviewing additional witnesses.

"People reported seeing small children at his residence, which is a concern for us," Lewis said.

Roberts is charged with committing lewd acts upon both children. He is also charged with three counts of raping the 14-month-old.

"Roberts engaged in the tying or binding" of the alleged rape victim, the complaint said.

"Without getting into the graphic details, there is detailed evidence that shows the charges are warranted," Lewis said. The rape victim was examined by doctors earlier this week and is now in the custody of her parents, he said.

Roberts was arrested Monday. His arraignment was initially scheduled for Tuesday, then Wednesday, but he was unable to leave the jail's psychiatric ward, sheriff's deputies said. He is due back in court today. If he remains unable to go to court, he will be arraigned at his bedside by Superior Court Judge Jane Ure, jail officials said.
