In Israel there have been several news reports that indicate Palestinian militants are working on deploying lethal gas in suicide attacks against Israeli targets.

Israeli military sources said the Palestinians are trying to use cyanide or nerve gas in suicide bombings. They said the first attempt to use cyanide gas against an Israeli target was in the March 27 suicide bombing in a hotel in Netanya in which 29 Israelis were killed.

Technical problems blocked the Palestinians from installing the cyanide in the belt used by the suicide attacker. According to Middle East Newsline, the work with cyanide has been taking place in at least two laboratories in the West Bank, including An Najah University in Nablus.

Palestinian insurgents are being aided by Hizbullah, Iran and Syria in their goal to weaponize cyanide in suicide attacks. Hamas has been conducting chemical trials in the West Bank city of Tulkarm. A Hamas agent, Abbas Sayed, was arrested on May 9 and later acknowledged that he obtained help in trying to develop weapons using cyanide and nerve gas provided by Hizbullah.

A chemical weapon attack in Israel would bring terrorism to a new low. Suicide attackers loaded with Conventional explosives have frequently killed as many as a dozen people. A chemical attack in a crowded area could easily result in over 100 fatalities.

I think one of the greatest warning signs is the global media’s growing indifference to the terrorist attacks. The commonality of bloodshed in Israel creates the need for escalation. The attacks have been going on for so long the press is starting to report them as common events. After two recent bombings, I noticed two cable news channels waited until the bottom of the hour to report the carnage.

Groups like Hamas and Hizbullah crave media attention. They think if their handy work is reported in the news, they’re making progress. And right now it seems the only way they’ll be able to retain the eye of the international press is to utilize weapons of mass destruction.

The U.S. is also facing the next level attacks. Here is what a spokesman for Al Qaeda recently had to say, "We have the right to kill four million Americans, including one million children. We have the right to fight them by chemical and biological weapons so they catch the fatal and unusual diseases Muslims have caught due to U.S. chemical and biological weapons."

We are living in an exciting and a sad era. exciting because it is obvious that we are near the end of time, Jesus will come soon, yet sad to see such a terrible waste of human life. One of the hardest things for me to understand about God is how He is able to put up with this type of stupidity and bloodshed. In theory I understand that He has a purpose yet to be fulfilled, yet emotionally it seems that each day brings so much hurt and terror.

The things of this old world are so superficial and temporary. It sure would be nice to go home soon.Oh that we all would pray for the peace of Jerushalem.
