If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

(Jn 15:6).

Every power of personal influence with which God invests a prophet of His, turns into a thronging enticement to evil when that prophet departs from abiding in God.

When I think of abiding in Christ, I think of what Jesus said about He and the Father...

Joh 5:30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

Joh 5:19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

Joh 8:28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.

Can you imagine an apple tree branch lying on the ground and expecting it to bring forth apples? Imagine a leg walking by itself and not attached to any body. We would not even think of it. We would know that it was impossible... the same is true with Jesus.

Joh 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
