The Bible prohibits us from taking a brother or sister in Christ to court. Are we allowed to use the court, in view of this, to use the court to ask for protection from a brother in Christ?

If a brother IS in Christ, then according to Matthew 18, we are to confront him personally first, then with the help of another, and finally take it to the church. However, IF this person is not in Christ, then I believe that the court is a perfectly acceptable means for protection from that person who has no regard for even the church in his dealings with others. Jesus used the example of a woman going to an unrighteous judge in one of his parables to demonstrate the need for persistence. First of all, I would go to the Lord in prayer seeking His protecting power from this person and before taking such a step. I am reminded of Nehemiah taking earthly steps in addition to seeking God's protection while they were rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem. Their enemies continually threatened them with harm to prevent the rebuilding of the wall, for they saw that as a sign of strength for the Jews. I hope this helps.

Since I am prohibited from contacting this person and he has threatened me, I understand from your reply Pastor Mike that I may seek the courts protection. Thank you

I will pray for your saftey. There is no sin in seeking the courts protection in this matter. May God send his angels to watch over you day and night.

If he or she where a brother as one indicated in the word of God non of this would have taken place. Not because you assemble together they are all brothers is Christ.

We also have to keep this in prayer unto God for He have establish law here on earth for this matters too.

Mat 18:15 But if your brother shall trespass against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother.

Luk 17:3 Take heed to yourselves. If your brother trespasses against you, rebuke him. And if he repents, forgive him.

1Co 6:1 Do any of you dare, when you have a matter against another, to go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints?

1Co 6:2 Do you not know that the saints shall judge the world? And if the world shall be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?

1Co 6:3 Do you not know that we shall judge angels, not to mention the things of this life?

1Co 6:4 If, then, you truly have judgments of the things of this life, set those who are least esteemed in the church to judge.

1Co 6:5 For I speak to your shame. Is it so that there is not a wise one among you, not even one in your midst who shall be able to judge between his brother?

1Co 6:6 But brother goes to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers.
