My Pastor led a mission group to Peru this summer. After getting many confirmations about this trip in prayer I stepped out in faith and prepared for this trip. To bridge the language barrier we had about 15,000 spanish gospel tracts printed. We did not know how it would turn out but we trusted God. The first day in Lima we handed out about 4000 tracts right outside the presidential palace even giving tracts to security guards sitting in armored vehicles in front of the palace. The next day we flew to Iquitos in the amazon. It is the world's largest city without roads entering it. You have to fly or go in by boat on the river. The population is 400,000. Again we handed out tracts for several days and saw shop owners come out to receive tracts and car owners stop to get tracts. Teenagers would help us distribute tracts, too. On the 20 hour ferry ride upstream we witnessed to people and handed out tracts to travellers boarding and departing along the way. We arrived at our final destination of Santa Rita, a small river village of 2000. Again we distributed about 1000 tracts door to door. We delivered a peke-peke boat motor to a pastor there for medical and evangelistic missions in the jungle area there. We also delivered clothing, vitamins, windup tape players to teach bible tapes and other necessities. We had two services and shared the gospel with about 70 villagers. My pastor was invited to do a marriage ceremony and a baby dedication. One lady travelled 5 days to get to the village to see us. The village had no commercial district or industrial site, just mostly huts with thatched roofs and dirt floors. We saw spiders as big as your hand and cockroaches several inches long. A mother hen was feeding them to her chicks. The villagers walk to the river bank in the morning to get buckets of river water for cooking and washing as there is no plumbing system in the village. We went fishing with some of the men from the village and caught some catfish which we ate that evening. We also caught pirhanas. We saw fresh water pink dolphins which are only found in two areas in the world. The last day I was hungry to witness the gospel to someone so the Lord brought a young group to us with a young woman from Israel who spoke English. At first she had objections but when we used the ten commandments to present the goodness test to her she listened carefully to the presentation of the gospel, despite her jewish persuasions. Before we travelled to Peru I felt the Lord saying something about an earthquake but it didn't sound urgent in my spirit so we weren't focused on that. The Peru earthquake which hit south of Lima happened 2 weeks after we returned. The president of Peru asked the people to trust God for help. There was much more but I will keep this short. Thank you. Please pray for the gospel to spread through Peru to all of South America and to the world and back to the USA.
