In the new testament, we behold the Book of revelation. At the beginning of the book , in chapters 2-3, we behold Christ addressing the seven Churches of Asia. Now, when I was reading these two chapters out loud this mourning (helps you see things that you may otherwise miss), I realized more the weight or importance for us as Christians to hear and hearken unto what is being said.

I find it interesting that before the actions of judgment upon the whole are told us in the book of revelation, Christ sharply and sternly talks to the 7 Churches exhorting them of things like holding fast to truth, pushing out and not accepting false doctrine, and holiness (which is the opposite of a lukewarm Christian)

Psalms 135:14) “the LORD will judge his people”

Again
1 Peter 4:17) “the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God”

What struck is this; the phrase “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches” appears 7 times with the exact same wording in revelation 2-3.

Out of all the exhortations that I can think of that have been addressed to the church in the entire bible, none have such repetition like this so concentrated (repetition stressing importance or significance) . Therefore when I look at my own life, when I look at the Church the way it is today (in shambles compared to what it potentially could be, due to the world invading the Church), churches all across America; the question is have we as individuals and as the body of Christ as a whole failed to hearken unto one of the most Emphasized (due to the repetition) warnings to the Church in all of scripture? Will we as individuals take responsibility to hearken unto the Lord’s rebuke?

It is well to note that there are two dimensions to consider when Christ addresses each church; what each church is doing right and what each church was doing wrong

In Jesus name,
Daniel
