Then

I remember when honor was prized above backhandedness.

I remember when the thought of homosexual union was considered a sexual deviancy and not a natural way of life.

I remember when it was safe to play in the park without your parents ten feet away.

I remember when a five year old had no idea what cocaine looked like.

I remember when the title of Christian meant something more than just a title – but a way of life.

I remember when the word Government brought a since of security and pride to your heart.

Now…

I remember how last week a corrupt president lied to me.

I remember yesterday when I saw two men getting married on television – as if it was something to be proud of.

I remember reading in the news about a month ago about a little girl that was kidnapped outside her home from her swing-set.

I remember how a man was arrested for smuggling cocaine in his four year old son’s pants pockets.

I remember last week when I heard a “Christian” talking bad about someone – (Lord it was me, please forgive me)

I remember how there are talks about our Government experimenting on it’s citizens.

The Possible Future…

I remember when we had a President and not a dictator.

I remember when a man and a woman was once the dominant love life style.

I remember when Parks were for fun and not homes for homeless.

I remember when five year old weren’t given drugs to calm them down.

I remember when Christianity wasn’t a hate crime.

I remember when we had a Democracy --- not a socialistic regime.

God please help move the hearts of this nation to rise up so this “Possible Future” can never happen -- AMEN

I remember when:
our family doctor made house calls;
my parents didn't need health insurance to pay for our medical care;
the local dairy delivered fresh milk to our door and the local bakery peddled fresh bread on our neighborhood street;
the kids on our block could play together without any concept of being a "gang" or wondering what the kids on the next block were doing;
the clothes that we wore were "made in America";
entertainment was funny and enjoyable without it being "sexy" and "violent";
hard work was a very acceptable way of life and not something to be avoided;
talking in public was done in language that was respectful and "clean";
telephone calls to businesses were answered by real live persons who were immediately helpful;
and I could share other memories.

The "good old days" were not perfect, but there were some qualities of life that made one's situation better than it seems to be today. The sad thing is that the "experts" don't seem to know how to restore these "good" qualities.

Maybe we should all get together and form our own community in the middle of nowhere. [Smile]

That's been tried before. It didn't work in ancient Jerusalem, and many other "communal" organizations have not worked since then. The Amish and the Mormons have tried to live in such communities, but it is not possible to find any sanctuary, a "nowhere", where anyone can keep out every "bad" influence. That is why the wisdom of God's will and his grace is so necessary in the communities in which we live. This world is a "battlefield", and there are no politically established "safe havens" from its "dangers".

I know there isn't a "safe-haven" from the battle.

As long as we exist in the Physical -- at least this fleshly life -- the battle will always be afoot.

But, I do think it's possible to have a community like that... So long as it's planned out very well, thought through and slowly assymbled.
