When a sinner approaches God the Father Jesus the Son of God, the sinner should see two things: the sinner should see he is a sinner and he should see the love of God.

When a Christian over-emphasizes being a sinner, without keeping account of the fact that God so loved the world and gave His Only Begotten Son, the Christian gets over into strictness, self-flagellation and "killing one's self" with all sorts of rituals and self-denegration, to the point where the healthy self now that Christ has died for him, sincerely "objects".

Or the Christian over-emphasizes the love of God, and in the process becomes overly permissive, preaching and practicing excessive license.

A restful place of balance for a Christian comes when a sinner who approaches Christ sees and feels and holds onto both things he sees: that he is a sinner AND he sees the love of God.

At that point, he is "neither worm nor wonder, but definitely a bundle of possibilities in Jesus Christ", not perfect, but definitely usable.

For if God had to look for "perfect" persons, He wouldn't have anyone to help Him on earth.

double vision. I may be a sinner but God loved me enough to send His Son to die for me.

love, Eden
