Did Jesus only speak what He heard the Holy Spirit speak? Or did Jesus also say some original stuff?

John 6:63
It is the spirit that quickenS; the flesh profits nothing: the words that I speak to you, they are spirit and they are life.

John 14:10
Do you not believe that I am in the Father and that the Father is in me? The words that I speak to you I speak not of Myself: but the Father who dwells in Me, He does the works.

Did Jesus only speak what He heard the Holy Spirit speak? Or did Jesus also say some original stuff?

Jesus always spoke the truth, whether it be spirit, or original stuff, or both.

With love in Christ, Daniel

Does not the answer lie somewhere in your understanding and definition of the trinity?

Originality, to me, implies a disconnectedness of sorts. That alone makes me uncomfortable with the idea of Christ being "original", as if he had separated from the link (I'm using a "Matrix" metaphor here)!

The ancients saw words as living entities. When a word was spoken it traveled like a bullet to its target. It was alive with power. Therefore, when John in his gospel said, that Jesus Christ was the Word that God spoke there was no stronger statement that could be made.

When the all powerful God spoke ... things happened. Even in the book of Genesis the creation was attributed to this power.

God said, "Let their be light, and there was light".

In the child of Bethlehem God spoke a word that never ceases winging its way to the hearts of humanity. It was a word called JESUS THE CHRIST.

He was identified as truth and light. His teachings became the words of God in the New Testament. In hearing those words it is as if God has spoken. Dr. Fredrich Herzog, formerly of Duke Divinity School, used to hold up a piece of glass and while looking through the glass at the class put it this way ..."Jesus Christ is transparent to God. In his words are the teachings of God. In his actions are the actions of God.

John 14:24 - 25 (NLT)

24Anyone who doesn’t love me will not obey me. And remember, my words are not my own. What I am telling you is from the Father who sent me. 25I am telling you these things now while I am still with you.

John 14:9 - 10 (NLT)

9Jesus replied, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking me to show him to you? 10Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I speak are not my own, but my Father who lives in me does his work through me.

So Jesus only uttered words which He had first seen or heard in His spirit of man? He never "ad-libbed" thereto?

I think everything Yeshua did and said was ad-libbed…off the cuff, spontaneous, unplanned

Yeshua was the Word...can we even grasp the full meaning of those words...

John 1:14
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Fully human, with all the weaknesses that human’s possesses, yet the Word of Yahweh...

Relying not on His exalted position He held when still in Heaven, but relying only on His Father’s love and the guiding of the Holy Spirit.

When Yeshua open His mouth Yahweh filled it with the words to speak, because Yeshua was committed to do the will of the Father only, and not His own.

Yeshua lead His disciples by example….He would not ask of them what He had not taught by example.

Matthew 10:19
But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.

Mark 13:11
But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.

We now are lead by the Holy Spirit, if we are committed to do the Father's Will and not our will.

John 3:31-36
He Who comes from above (heaven) is [far] above all [others]; he who comes from the earth belongs to the earth, and talks the language of earth [his words are from an earthly standpoint]. He Who comes from heaven is [far] above all others [far superior to all others in prominence and in excellence].

It is to what He has [actually] seen and heard that He bears testimony, and yet no one accepts His testimony [no one receives His evidence as true].

Whoever receives His testimony has set his seal of approval to this: God is true. [That man has definitely certified, acknowledged, declared once and for all, and is himself assured that it is divine truth that God cannot lie].

For since He Whom God has sent speaks the words of God [proclaims God's own message], God does not give Him His Spirit sparingly or by measure, but boundless is the gift God makes of His Spirit!

The Father loves the Son and has given (entrusted, committed) everything into His hand
And he who believes in (has faith in, clings to, relies on) the Son has (now possesses) eternal life. But whoever disobeys (is unbelieving toward, refuses to trust in, disregards, is not subject to) the Son will never see (experience) life, but [instead] the wrath of God abides on him. [God's displeasure remains on him; His indignation hangs over him continually.]
