In some churches, in the Christian walk in general, there is the temptation to get all caught up in peripheral issues (such as what the book of Revelation means) and take one's eyes off Christ Jesus. It think this is a serious problem and we know, at some level, but at some other level let happen because of the way the ego is tempted with these other subjects.

I know Christians who only talk about the Rapture, or Revelations, or some modern day miracle workers....and quite frankly, they turn everyone off. It seems that the allure of 'secret knowledge' has its own Christian form; just as the way the movie 'The DaVinci Code' appealed to so many....because they felt they were in on a secret, making them better than the next guy.

Jesus said that the greatest of all are those that become servant....which must be a Divine characteristic, since Jesus, God become man, showed us that serving is the call.

Speaches and teachings that do not inspire us to draw closer to Christ Jesus I think should be held suspect...and the best subject I can think of is how to grow in intimacy with Christ.

Rev 1:3 Blessed [is] he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time [is] at hand.

I don't know of any Church that teaches only on the book of Revelations, but the Bible does make it clear that as Christians we are blessed to study the book.

Yes, Christians often talk about the rapture and the Second Coming. Why? : Because we are the Bride waiting for the Groom. If a woman was getting married soon and she found talking about her upcoming wedding boring or distasteful, we wonder about her commitment to her Groom.
As far as people being turned off about hearing Christians talking about the soon return, these are probably the same people who are turned off by the Church talking about sin.

We as Christians are not about pleasing the world but, God. Churches have become too political correct as it is. It is not the Church’s job to make the truth of the Gospel more pleasing to the world.
