Commentary by Roger Oakland

The Emerging Church controversy continues to explode. Perhaps the best way to describe the Emerging Church phenomenon is to compare it to an avalanche. Every day more and more information is being made available regarding what the Emerging Church is and where it may be headed.

The Emerging Church

It is not my purpose in writing this commentary to define every aspect of the Emerging Church. In fact it would require several volumes to do so. Even then, some would say that the Emerging Church was not defined properly.

The common denominator being promoted is the idea that the time has come for Christianity to be reinvented for our generation. In order to do so, the church must provide the environment and the experiences to attract people. Christianity, the Emerging Church promoters say, must become relevant to our postmodern generation. No longer does reason or God’s Word hold the answers to life’s questions. Experience must become the key factor to encounter spiritual reality.

It is so hard to believe that so many gave their lives to bring the church out of Rome and now so many are headed right back there.

This article's title was interesting to me... I ws thinking about Paul and what he said to the Galatians..."Oh, ye foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you! They were marching back to Jerusalem.... back to works and away from grace and faith.

Ironic too that Warren is also marching back to Rome for he says that the first reformation was about creeds and split the church apart and he prophesies a 2nd which will be about deeds and will re-unite the church.

Back to works and away from grace and faith. But Rome is more than just works... it is also the idolatry of Babylonia, so it is not so surprising that there are two men coming from different places but headed to the same place.

It is said... all roads lead to Rome... but this not so... all roads but one.

Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

Matthew 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Jewish leaders buoyed by EU interfaith meeting

Quote:
Jewish leaders said they were optimistic following a high-profile interfaith meeting held by the European Union last week. The Tuesday meeting was attended by Jewish, Christian and Muslim leaders from across Europe, as well as Buddhist spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama.

Yea Linda they did.

At the Pastor's conference last fall Chuck Smith stood up and denounced PDL as heresy.

He said they will not sell the books or do the studies.

It's good to see at least on fellowship of Churches take a stand.
