Christian group protests restrictions imposed in letter from Secret Service

A Christian group is accusing the U.S. Secret Service of religious discrimination and censorship for issuing a memo that bans Christian crosses from the presidential inauguration parade later this month.

Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, director of the Washington, D.C.-based Christian Defense Coalition, contends the Secret Service has "trampled the First Amendment and crushed religious freedom in the public square."

"Simply put, it is religious bigotry and censorship," he said. "It is even more troubling when one realizes that it is only Christian symbols that have been excluded from the inauguration parade."

Bobby, Christians have been tortured and executed for their faith all ove the world since the time of Christ. American have enjoyed being the fat-cats of our faith for a couple of centuries because it was convenient for this country to pretend it was founded upon the Christian faith. Now that much of the Western world is falling into the most appalling forms of depravity and sin, of course they don't want to have people around them who believe in moral absolutism and there being one way to heaven, through Jesus Christ. In this way, we catch up to where the rest of the world has been for centuries and receive the honor of being allowed to suffer for our faith.

I counter your statement by saying that Jesus Christ and Christianity are more credible today than ever and that the consciences of these people will not allow them to even see it or hear it comfortably.

Separation of religion and politics seems to be the way of the future. Everyone is trying to be PC.

That just made my day, and to comment on this thread, I think it's outrageous what the American Government is doing, and surprising considering I hear most of the people who voted for Dubya (bad choice, come on guys...) were Christian. I don't even consider him Christian though, LaurieFL was mentioning the convenience of being Christian, and for many politicians I'm sure that's all it is.

One hardly needs to glance at him to realize his incapability to properly execute even the simplest of actions that would benefit the common world and everyone's overall freedom.

I don't necessarily believe that religion and politics should be combined, considering that might infringe on the freedom of others because even God has given us the choice not to live a Christian lifestyle. However, this isn't seperation, this is the exclusion and segregation of Christianity. If that's what it means to be PC, what a shame!
