Music Piracy, Christian or Not, is Simply Wrong

"But as computer-impaired as I am, I know enough about right and wrong to know what to call self-professed Christians who go to church Sunday morning, then download free tunes Sunday night: Hypocrites" ...

It is. A copyright is something to protect the producer of original material. It's the artist's.
You own 1 copy of the material; If you own a CD and give it away, you lose your copy - it's 1:1 ratio. To give away copies of someone else's work is to steal from the owner. It's no different then handing a carjacker someone else's keys.

I was on a usenet thread where one "Christian" had uploaded the soundtrack to the Passion. Others had chastized him on a related usenet group, and he basicly said, "yea, I did it".
He owned 1 copy but was making available more than 1 copy (he had no control over how many copies were downloaded).

Hearing the word is the start.
Living the word is the challenge.

PS -
My Church's website offers free sermon mp3s and everyone is welcome to them. You can't steal what someone gives away, so help yourselves!
