2Peter 1:4 God made great and marvelous promises, so that his nature would become part of us. Then we could escape our evil desires and the corrupt influences of this world.

You are right in what you say.....most do not know who they are in Christ.
In Christ we are righteous.....we are made the righteousness in Christ Jesus.....
Most have read that over and over again and have a knowledge of that.....but do not fully understand it.
And if that was not enough we are called sons.
And if that was not enough Jesus said.....everything that the Father has is mine and all I have is yours.
The question one needs to ask is....do you see yourself as God sees you?
In most cases the answer is no.....people do not see themselves as God sees them.
Why ......because to many christians are moved by there feelings......when feelings have nothing to do with faith.
To come to a realization of who you are in Christ you need to decrease and Christ needs to increase.
These words spoken by John the Baptist concerning his ministry.......As more people were starting to follow Jesus some of Johns followers came to him
wondering why.......
But a look deeper reveals the process behind the words.
I must decrease and He must increase......if this change is not daily taking place....YOU are in the way.....and never fully realize who you are in Him.
After all a christian is not defined by not living like the world........but rather a christian is defined by living like the world cannot.

As we walk in the Lord, we grow spiritually. We should not be at the same place spiritually as we were when we were first saved. I don't think we are always going forwrd. I know sometimes, I fall back a few steps, but we get up and begin again. I hope this helps.
