Thanx for posting you guys. The tract with a tip is a good idea. I have seen pastor(s) on a consistent basis, while in church, call the congregation up to say this prayer. I thought that this was unnacceptable after giving a two hour lecture on why we need to tithe more. Thats where I was coming from originally but I agree with you on tracts, they should be accurate because... 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
We better make darn sure we do it right

Exactly Sis. Many a waitress and server people have been stiffed by Christians. We must have a consistant witness 24/7.
Heb. 13:2Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
When we declare for Christ those around will be watching to see if what we profess is real.
God bless.

Drew,
I like the idea of being a tract with the tip. Some Christians have made the mistake of putting a tract without a tip. This turns the person away from Christianity. Thinking all Christians are cheap. betty

I used to give out a great many Chick tracts, but I now prefer the Fellowship Tract League. It is a ministry of the Fellowship Baptist Church and the tracts are well grounded in the Word.

For me if there is time I can witness and go through the Word. If there is just a brief opportunity then a tract which details the true salvation in Christ Jesus, then I can just pass them a tract.
I once put a $5.00 tip in a tract at a shoneys. A couple of days later I stopped in and the waitress came rushing over and was wondering if I had any other tracts the might have, as they all enjoyed them and had passed them on. I gave them all that I had in my pocket.
I sold some cans for 2-two dollar bills. As I was running errands in town that was all I had on me as we run accounts at our merchants. A man was on the outer perimeter of Walmart, and holding a sign which said,"Will work for food". I gave him my two-dollar bills inside a tract, aand told him that God loved him. As I was pulling into traffic I saw him reading the tract. I never saw him again, but I was praying for him.
The canned sinners prayer without a Biblical emphasis upon repentence, as you have referenced is questionable. It can lead into a false sense of security, if the prayer was spoken with the lips and not from the heart.
I deeply appreciate your topic Brother JAVA, and the chance to share and analyze. God bless you.

Exactly some of the things I also share Caretaker . But as I said those are Biblical not man made. A concern that I had regarding some tracts that I saw recently.

This is something to study on JAVA. For those who first come to Christ this could be their first prayer, and a sinners prayer could provide an example, for them to follow, as a specific prayer of confession, invitation, and dedication. The prayer needs to be from the heart and not just from the lips, and as you say they need scriptural guidance. This is a little something that I have to share with those seeking Christ:
Romans 3:10-12 As it is written: "There is none righteous, no, not one; There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one."
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 10:8-11 But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame."
Romans 2:4 Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?
Romans 6:3-7 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin.
Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
We must admit that we are a sinner: Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
Be willing to turn from sin (repent): Acts 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
Believe that Jesus Christ died for you, was buried and rose from the dead Romans 10:9-10
Through prayer invite Jesus into your life to become your personal savior: Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Pray this prayer if you want to receive Christ:
Dear God, I am a sinner and need forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ shed his precious blood and died for my sin. I am willing to turn from sin. I now invite Christ to come into my heart and life as my personal savior. Amen.
1) read your Bible every day to get to know Jesus Christ better, and the book of John is a great place to start.
2)Talk to God every day in prayer every day He is as close as your very next breath.
3)Be baptized, worship, fellowship and serve with other Christians in a church where Christ is preached and the Bible is the final authority.
4)Tell others about Jesus Christ.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Java here, stirring up the stuff again ... In my walk with the Lord and all of those who he has seen fit to have me bring to him, I have never used this "man prayer". It is a combination of scripture, not a prayer that the Lord tells us to pray such as His prayer. I am a bit disconcerted that this prayer is used consistently. Is not confessing with thy mouth and believing in your heart better than a tape recording recording prayer? After all the Lord did say not to pray in repetition.
