All that I have read about addiction and addictive behavior has stated that the person who self-recognizes the problem has a greater chance of beating the addiction than someone who is in denial and is repeatedly warned. It sounds like you are among the first group--may God grant the increase!
Father we pray for Your healing hand and a blessing of courage upon Your servant as he tears away the bonds that have bound him, in Your holy name. As You told the lame man to rise and walk, Lord, let Your healing push Your servant to great things to Your glory... in the name of Jesus, amen.

I will also pray for you. I quit smoking a few months after I rededicated my life to the Lord, and I did it by slowly cutting back from 6-7 cigarettes per day, to 3-4, to 2, to 1 a day, to one every other day, to none. I did it of my own strength and was sort of holding steady at 3 per day. Once I prayed about it though, God made them tatse NASTY, which enabled me to let them go completely. He will be faithful to your prayers, if your desire to stop is genuine.

Thank you HisGrace
-------------------- With you I rise, In you I sleep, kneeling down I kiss your feet, Grace abounds upon me now, I once was lost but now I'm found. The gift of God dwells within, To this love I now give in.

I will be praying. I know of two Chrisitan young ladies that quit smoking. One, used the nicotiine gum to help. There is no shame in using the patch or the gum to help quit. You hang in there. There will be slips, but don't give up and don't be too hard on yourself when those happen. betty
