Would you please offer up prayers for some friends of ours? They have been out of work for 21 months. The husband has his Ph.D and is in top level management. He has worked in a consulting capacity for many years now taking on mostly government contracts and his wife does not work due to health issues.
It is common to have breaks between assignments in his line of work, but 21 months without work has brought monumental changes in their lives. He is an older man and sometimes in the fast paced highly competitive technology industry having such a degree and being older is a hindrance and not a help. Someone with his education, experience and maturity level is often considered overqualified and a potential threat to upper management, thus the job goes to a younger, less experinenced person.
This has been quite a trial for them, but the Lord has been good to sustain them and they have remained faithful trusting in him.
He has an upcoming interview with the CEO of a company in Iowa this upcoming week and it is their first real sign of possibility in almost 8 months.
They are committed that they only want what is in the Lord's will for their lives and so their prayer request is for that... that the Lord's will be done and if this position be in HIS will for them that God would have mercy on their situation and clear the way of any obstacles that might be there in the way.
Additionally, I would ask that you also pray for their continued faith and strength in HIM.
God has really moved in their lives over these many months to teach them to rely on HIM through this experience and thier grace in doing so has been a testament to Hal and I personally and to others in our church I am sure, but I know that this witness has not come easily and has not been without cost.
I know there have been very real times of fear and dispair and they have suffered great emotional and material loss. So please pray that God will continue to brings them comfort and grace that is sufficient and that they will remain of one mind with him and with each other should this trial not be over yet.
Thank you all for listening and for praying. I have learned to covet your prayers over these years... those of you who are faithful and do in earnest read these prayer requests and are faithful to offer to stand in the gap are the ones here who are really doing HIS work here and are being about our Father's business.
May God bless you richly for your faithfulness in this work! It is very comforting to know that I can come here and find more than a few who will stand with me in times of need. God is so Good!!!
