Phil. 4:
4: Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.
5: Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
6: Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7: And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8: Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
9: Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Jesus instructed him through his teachings that it’s better to love than to hate but he must hate death in order to love. He cannot give death lest he receives it himself. To hate anything in life would be to curse it to death. To hate anything in death is to curse it to life. If you hate anything to death it will hate you back to death. If you hate death it will hate you because it has no choice but to flee from you. To hate is to love to begin with. In order to hate you must first love to hate.

I come in peace. My beliefs are simple.
Here is my riddle,

The sword is the tongue and all it speaks. Who owns that sword? God does for he made it. Who controls your tongue? You do. Your faith is what you speak. Faith in death leads to argument. Faith in life leads to peace. Faith in life after death leads to argument. So what is it you are doing? Now who is the false prophet?

The point was:

Christians must not forbear speaking the truth, for fear of offending others.

You are only under the law if you are not born-again. If you are not born-again you will answer for everyone of the laws you break.

If you are born-again, you will do your best to live by the law. You don't just go out and live how ever you like. The post was not about the law. That is why I did not add it.

Bottom line, when you share the truth Gospel and the truths of the Bible with people you will aquire many enemies -> Have I now become your enemy by telling you the truth?

Paul had led the Galatians to Christ (3:1). They had made a good start in the Christian life (3:3) and were doing well spiritually (5:7). Later some Jewish teachers (called Judaizers) taught the Galations that to be saved one must not only believe in Christ, but must also obey the Mosaic Law, the sign of which is circumcision. In preaching this heresy, they also attacked Paul’s apostleship and gospel. Their false gospel had a detrimental effect on the Galations: it was beginning to hinder their obedience to God (5:7), they were starting to observe some parts of the Law (4:10), and they were considering a complete acceptance of the Law (1:6, 4:9).

Paul seeks to expose the error of the Judaizers’ gospel and their impure motives (6:12,13). His ultimate goal is to prevent the readers from embracing a false gospel and to encourage them to retain their spiritual freedom in Christ (5:1). The apostle does not want his dear converts to be tied up with all the now abolished rules and regulations of the Mosaic Law, which will lead them into legalism.

The apostle desires that they would be of one mind with him respecting the law of Moses, as well as united with him in love. In reproving others, we should take care to convince them that our reproofs are from sincere regard to the honour of God and religion and their welfare. The apostle reminds the Galatians of the difficulty under which he laboured when he first came among them. But he notices, that he was a welcome messenger to them. Yet how very uncertain are the favour and respect of men! Let us labour to be accepted of God. You once thought yourselves happy in receiving the gospel; have you now reason to think otherwise? Christians must not forbear speaking the truth, for fear of offending others. The false teachers who drew the Galatians from the truth of the gospel were designing men. They pretended affection, but they were not sincere and upright. An excellent rule is given. It is good to be zealous always in a good thing; not for a time only, or now and then, but always. Happy would it be for the church of Christ, if this zeal was better maintained.

Also to be more blunt:

The false teachers in Galations were trying to teach that Christians were still under the Law, and that they needed to perform all the Law to be Saved, and that made Christ's sacrifice incomplete. See Galations Chapter 3.

Perhaps I misread your point? Is your post about respecting the Law of Moses and having one mind regarding the law of Moses. If so ,do you agree we are not under the Law?

Or do you believe we are under the Law?

Again I may have misread what you were trying to say, and was pointing out we are NOT under the law for Salvation.

Good Morning David,

This sounds like Paul is warning that just because a Prophet is charismatic and a draws crowd does not mean his message lines up with the Bible. How far off, am I? Be honest I can take it. [Wink]
God Bless you,

I must respectfully disagree with Matthew Henry and you about the synopsis of this passage.

You have left out all of Galations chapter 3 which prefaces Paul's remarks that you highlight in Gal 4:16-21

Gal 3:1-3

You foolish Galations, who has bewitched you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified? This is the only thing I want to find out from you: did you receive the Spirit by works of the Law, or by hearing with faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?

Gal.3:6,7 "Even so Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness."

"Therefore, be sure that it is those who are of faith who are sons of Abraham."

Gal. 3:10 "For as many as are of the works of the Law are under a curse: for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not abide by all things written in the book of the Law, to perform them."

Gal. 3:11 "Now that NO ONE is Justified by the Law before God is EVIDENT!" for the righteous man shall live by faith."

Gal. 3:13 [b]Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us-for it is written, CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO HANGS ON A TREE-"

Paul was warning the Galations to NOT put themselves under the Law as a way of Salvation.
The men who were the enemy were the ones who told the church that they still haqve to follow the Law of Moses to be saved, and complete the work of the Spirit by works of the flesh.

Paul says not so! The work of the Spirit will be completed by the Work of the Spirit in us.

Below is some food for thought:

I plead with you, brothers, become like me, for I became like you. You have done me no wrong. As you know, it was because of an illness that I first preached the gospel to you. Even though my illness was a trial to you, you did not treat me with contempt or scorn. Instead, you welcomed me as if I were an angel of God, as if I were Christ Jesus himself. What has happened to all your joy? I can testify that, if you could have done so, you would have torn out your eyes and given them to me. Have I now become your enemy by telling you the truth?

Those people are zealous to win you over, but for no good. What they want is to alienate you from us, so that you may be zealous for them. It is fine to be zealous, provided the purpose is good , and to be so always and not just when I am with you. My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you, how I wish I could be with you now and change my tone, because I am perplexed about you!
Galatians 4:12 through Galatians 4:20 (NIV)

The apostle desires that they would be of one mind with him respecting the law of Moses, as well as united with him in love. In reproving others, we should take care to convince them that our reproofs are from sincere regard to the honour of God and religion and their welfare.
